Favorite US Presidents elected during your lifetime

1 Kennedy
2 Clinton

Ooops

1 Kennedy
2 LBJ
3 Clinton
4 Carter
5 G H W Bush
6 G W Bush
7 Ford
8 Nixon
9 Reagan

Clinton.

For course, I was born in 1980, so I don’t have many options, and I only became truly and independantly politically aware during Clinton’s Presidency.

  1. Reagan
  2. Eisenhower
  3. GHW Bush

I liked Clinton but Carter is the only president that I actually respect as a person.

Ford wasn’t elected.

  1. Reagan
  2. GW Bush
  3. G HW Bush
  4. Clinton
  5. Carter
  6. LBJ
  7. Nixon

No brainer. Reagan.

Like Eonwe, I was also born in 1980, and therefore the only possible option for a vague left-winger and admirer of Charming People would be ol’ Clinton.
But then I’m not American, so I don’t know if I count for the purposes of this thread!

1.Clinton
2. G.W. Bush
3. Reagan
4. G.H.W. Bush I

Keep in mind, I didn’t vote for any of them. I could only have been old enough to vote for G.W., but the nickel came up “tails” so I voted Democrat.

I did vote for Dukakis in my kindergarden mock election, though. (Bush won)

Unfortunately, since my coming of voting age to vote in the 1978 election, I cannot truthfully say that I liked any man elected president.

Harry Truman

FDR

I could hardly stand FDR while he was president. I’ve since come to see that he converted what could have been a violent change into a relatively peaceful change.

I disagreed with LB Johnson on his handling of the Vietnam War, but his skill in handling Congress is legendary. His approach to the civil rights issue will be discussed in history classes long after I’m dead. The LBJ tapes

RM Nixon was a psychotic nutcase, but his pioneering forays in China and the EPA will reverberate forever.

I am in the same boat as Eonwe

Andrew Shepherd
Tom Beck
Dave Kovic
James Marshall
Merkin Muffley

Clinton didn’t really make much an impression on me either way, so I’m mostly neutral towards him… I’m too young to remember Reagan, the first election I can recall was the elder Bush, and I don’t really have much in the way of feelings either way for him either. Of course I “supported” him then as much as a 3rd? 4th? grader can, but that’s just because my parents voted for him. In retrospect, both did some stuff that I don’t agree with, but nothing that inspires me to the sort of negative feelings I have towards our current King George.

I guess as long as I feel they’re at least maintaining the status quo (rather than actively making things worse like I thing K.G. is doing) I’m OK with them, whoever they are. I can’t honestly say I’ve ever known a politician that inspired me or that could even be my “favourite,” though a couple of Congresscritters have come close.

Maybe I can get him in on a technicality, since I think he left office about the same time I was born… I really like a lot of the work Carter has done post-Presidency.

Clinton

You couldn’t get me to put either Bush on this list if you held a gun to my head.

David Palmer.

My favorite? As in, the one I liked the best? Carter. With the possible exception of Hoover, the most honorable and decent man to have held the office.
