Pre. Obama got about 69.5 million votes in 2008, so how does that compare with the total votes nationwide for Republicans for House of Representatives this year?
The last reports I saw said that about 90 million people voted, so unless Republicans got 77% of the votes cast they got many fewer total votes than Obama did. Since they didn’t win anything close to 77% of the seats, I’d say it’s incredibly unlikely they got more votes than Obanma did.
Pundits have been saying for quite a while (since before the election) that probably many more of those who voted Democratic in 2008 would not vote compared to those who voted Republican.
