How much do you spend a month on alcohol and tobacco

$0 on both tobacco and alcohol. Now if we were to add movie theatre expenses for a month we would have a whole different story.

Is that Jayne I hear?

I’m with you. Nuthin and nuthin equal . . . nuthin.

That was a Firefly reference, was it not?

$0 on tobacco; $0 on booze for our consumption (though we may buy a bottle of wine or some beer if we’re hosting a party–the guests always take home what’s left over).

Zero.

I don’t smoke, I don’t drink.

Tobacco: $4 usually. My wife may buy a pack every six weeks or so. We went to Atlantic City this weekend and my wife wanted a pack. $9.50 at the casino!!! No wonder Trump is a millionaire!

Alcohol: in the average month $11 for beer, $15-$20 for a bottle of decent liquor. So say $30. We almost never drink while we are out, we can afford to eat out twice as often if we skip the drinks.

Not too bad.

$0.

Smokes - 1/2 pack per day so that’s about $60/month

Drinks at home - Around $50 for beer, probably $100 for hard stuff

Drinks at bars - Anywhere from none to $300ish, so we’ll say $150

Let’s see. Carry the one…

$360 or so per month. I’m in charge of keeping the bar stocked at our house, so some of that booze is for my fiancé.

I just got of rehab last week so the totals will be very different from now on but my totals were:

Alcohol: $800 - $1100 a month
Tobacco: $60 a month (I dip Skoal, don’t smoke)

Tobacco - $0. Never smoked a cigarette in my life.

Alcohol - Depends. It was $0 in July (on purpose, I had decided to take a break from drinking), but it’s about $10 so far in August (one bottle of wine). I would guess it’s usually somewhere between $0 and $40, if I go out with friends that month. That usually happens once every month or six weeks or so. I don’t like beer, so pretty much the only alcohol I drink at home is the occasional glass of wine with dinner, and I don’t go out often enough to kill the bankbook.

This is hard for me to judge, because I just started living on my own and buying things. Before, in college, I would usually only buy booze with the intent to drink it that night (ahh, those were some good times.) I did usually make sure, though, that I had some bottles of beer and some quantity of hard liquer for when I wanted a drink, but not get drunk.

But now that Im on my own…let’s see…$7 a week for a six-pack…maybe $20 every month for hard liquer (I’m not drinknig it all, I’m amassing a well-stocekd bar for myself,) and bars? Haven’t gone to any yet, but I might start going because I need to get and and meet people. Judging from previous bar expereinces, I usually spend $20 a night…go out 2-3 times a month…

I don’t smoke, so my total seems to be: $88-$108. Not too bad, I think.

Alcohol: probably around £150, about $280, a month. I actually thought it would be more, because I go out quite a lot, but then again, I work in a pub so a lot of my drinking is cheap or free.

Cigarettes: about £80 ($150) a month, but remember, cigarettes are a lot more expensive here in the UK - around $8 a pack.

Holy hell, caffiene addict? I know its weird of me to read about people spending hundreds of dollars a month on booze and thinking it odd that someone can drink that much Dr. Pepper a day, but my god! I guess its because I stopped drinking pop and my mother is still a pop fiend.

As for my totals:

Tobacco - $0, never smoked in my life
Alcohol - Its so rare that I drink that its probably less than $100 for the whole year, if that.

I have my vices though. I’m totally addicted to our local Chinese place’s Broccoli Beef. In fact, its on lunch special tomorrow! I eat chinese at least a couple times a week. This is a recent addiction. Before Chinese, it was Subway. I’m all about the food.

Wow, that’s a lot of pop. What about it keeps you sane? Also, (and this is very nosy and you don’t have to answer if you don’t want) do you drink diet or regular?

A 12 pack of regular would be almost twice my alotted calories for an entire day.

I know you’re not talking to me but…

You’re only living on 1000 calories a day?

Its not alot of pop, i drink about 1.5-2 two liters a day, which is about 8.5 to 11 twelve ounce cans a day. I drink diet though, that much regular sugar pop makes me feel run down and sweaty. Eating a pound of liquid sugar a day (not including sugar from other sources) isn’t good for me apparently.

I try to keep it around 1200. I wanted to lose a few pounds, and I found that calorie number by entering my ideal weight. I probably eat over 1200, but I use it as a base number.

That would suck. I’m male, muscular and active. I can put down 5000 calories a day if i am active that day and not gain weight. Last weekend i went camping and hiked for 3 hours, ended up eating close to 7000 calories that day.

I’ll think of you next time i’m eating a box of breaded chicken.

Tobacco: $10 a year on a cigar.
The occasional beer, wine cooler or margarita: $10 month.
The frequent (almost daily) good wine: $600 month.

Like I said, I don’t keep to it every day. I eat sensibly and try to keep the junk to a minimum. It’s not that difficult, and I’m not starving. I weigh 130 or so, and I exercise 3x a week.

Also bear in mind that men burn calories a lot faster than most women. I couldn’t eat like that and stay thin, and I’d much rather be thin than eat a box of breaded chicken.

Two years June ago I was spending nearly $10 a day on tobacco. Now it’s 0. Whoo hoo!

Alcohol – like a lot of others, maybe $10 a month on margaritas with dinner.

another smoke-free teetotaler chekcing in! My alcohol spendign ranges from $0 (most months) to maybe $30. I get horrible hangovers very easily, so I rarely drink more than one drink in a night when I do drink. But, living in Western NY developed my taste for wines, so that expense may start creeping up.
