it’s £90 here in UK is that a resonable price?
none of you know??
Nah, it’s just that most of us can look up pricing on the internet.
It cost me $869 + tax.
Of course, it came wrapped in a Sony Vaio.
I’d say reguardless of the price, wait until the second service pack comes out.
At that point it should be worth “Getting”…
My roommate works at “Office Max” and he says XP is selling (well, is priced) at the $200 range for the full home version. The upgrade is about $100. The full professional version is $300, while the upgrade professional version is $200.

Most stores selling these have deals where you can get the equivalent $ in selected hardware free with a rebate after buying the package so your cost is effectively zero if the hardware is useful to you or cna be resold.
Staples offered a Sony CD writer + CDs or Palm M100 + SW or Linksys Router\HUB +_ cards or a 1.3 meg digital camera package. All were about 150 to 200 values that were free after rebates. One rebate package per purchase.

I got the pro version. It rocks although lots of old windows stuff will not work with the XP code base but if that’s the price for the (so far) bulletproof stability I’ll pay it.
Oops that should be upgrades.

Even for a clean install for the $ 100 difference I can’t imagine that someone doesn’t have an old 98 or ME disk lying around to use for verification for the upgrade.

the price i said in the OP was 90 pounds and that was for the home upgrade. so it looks like we in UK are paying 30% more than you guys
Yeah & when you call tech support in the US, it must be a fortune…Frankly, quite a lot of things cost more when you are on an island.
point is handy they shouldnt cost that much more. pure profiteering is what it is.
Actually IIRC Handy a good deal of MS tech support is handled out of Ireland and they have found many US customers respond well to an Irish accent, I don’t know if British customers would have the same reaction however.
