When I have AOL open the media player sounds like an old record and also skips all over the place when listening to an MP3 file. It is XP professional running on a 900 MHz Duron processor with 256 Megs of RAM. Any ideas guys?
can i just ask how much the XP upgrade costs in USA? in UK it is a quite rediculous £90!
Change your file association away from the astoundingly bloated xp media player back to your previous player (mplayer2 will work fine–it’s in your windows folder). Or, just install winamp…
You’ve got plenty of hardware power. It sounds like a driver/resource conflict. What else do you have running when it’s skipping besides the media player and AOL?
Use windows XP’s upgrade feature to update to the latest version of the player and see if this helps. Also the latest version of Winamp works nicely with XP.
XP Home Upgrade is USD99.
XP Pro Upgrade is USD199.
Yeah, the prices are kind of high here also, but on the other hand a lot of the retailers are offering great deals and rebates. Best Buy alone is offering a free 128MB memory chip, DSL/Cable router, free music CD of your choice, and a free RIO MP3 player when you buy XP.
