to all of those who smugly stated “I have no car payments” beware, the car payment gods.
I had a Mitsubishi Mirage that was within 4 payments of being paid off. One day about 1 1/2 years ago, I knew there was black ice on the road, the guy behind me didn’t. When it was over, I had a “trunk optional” vehicle and the police officer didn’t believe that it was a Mitsubishi…
I now have a Geo Metro, paymenst of $115 (don’t want to invoke the car gods again by mentioning how many more to go).
$448 per month for a 1999 Acura CL; 36 month lease with $1,000 down. Next month will be month 24 and I can trade it in for the 2001 Acura TL (cheaper payments than the 2001 CL). Yippee. I’m the perfect candidate for leasing a vehicle. I just hit 19,000 miles; with low mileage and hardly any wear and tear on all my cars, I’m able to turn them in early.
$230 one a 48 month loan for a 1996 Pontiac Grandam 2 door V-6 leather seats and extended warrenty. I purchased it two years ago with $250 down and a $500 trade-in.
What was really amazing was the car I had before. I purchased a 1984 Pontiac Sunbird for $2,000 cash in 1994 and drove it 100 miles a day five days a week for 3 1/2 years. I only had minor repairs the whole time. When I traded it in it was still running well, but burning about 2 quarts of oil a month. They gave me $500 for it. I really felt like I got my money’s worth out of that car.
1998 Honda Civic EX, $4,000 down, extended 7yr/100,000 mile warranty, $320/mo for 48 months. I’m a little better than halfway there.
The cool thing is that, even though I’ve had it for two years, I’ve taken very good care of it and added a few things here and there…and I got an awesome deal on it to begin with. Currently, its BlueBook value is about $300 more than I paid for it! Suh-weet!
$0.00 for a 98 Toyota Corolla and a 2000 Toyota Sienna. In the past, I financed cars when they offered outrageously low rates. I remember financing a Grand Am for 0.0%. Hard to pass that up. Even I can beat 0.0% with my brilliant investments! (Let’s see, it’s buy high, sell low, right?)
finished paying off my $188/mo/48 month 94 honda civic cx around february.
however, spent $1000+ since june on a/c and break light wiring repairs. crap.
98 F-150, traded in a 88 Chevy Cavalier in pretty good condition with $500 down. Payments are $426 a month for 36 months. Only 9 more payments, Woo Hoo!
(And Aha, shame on you for trading in your F-150 :()
99 Dodge Durango $1000 down/$559 a month but it is a 3 year purchase plan and Im half way there.
One of my best friends is leasing a Lexus 300 for $625 a month for 5 years and another of my good friends is paying $675 a month for 5 years on his BMW 328i.
So I guess my payment is low if you look at it from a very skewed perspective…
Well, I bought it used, but I’m paying $185/month for 60 months on a 97 Saturn SL2 (which I LOOOOVE!). Speaking of which, I should go write the check for my first car payment…
Maybe this whole grown-up thing isn’t so much fun after all.
for a '98 GMC Sonoma. I bought it new with all the options, knowing I would be driving it for a while. I put $1000 down, but have an atrocious credit record, thus the high payments. Well, that, and I refused to finance for more than 4 years.
We looked at these when we were car shopping. The price of the car isn’t really all that bad. You can get a good deal on a Mercedes and BMW. The problem is their interest rates. They have to be the worst rates out there.
Man, I wish I’d never come into this thread!! Maybe we got taken for a ride, but everyone’s car payment is lower than mine, except for Dawg!!
We put a $1000 down on a '95 Crown Victoria in 1996, and the payments are $462.05 a month, and NOW, I’m convinced I was shafted, and they didn’t even buy me dinner!!
