Approximately how much money would each US citizen have if the accumulated wealth of our entire population was evenly distributed (including corporate entities, those holding offshore accounts, investments, assets, etc…)???
Odd, this question came up just a week ago. Must mean tax season is approaching.
Anyway, you may find this thread helpful.
Basically, it depends what you mean by “wealth.” There’s actually not all that much “money” in the US economy. About $1.1 trillion, of which about half of that is cash. That’s about three or four thousand dollars per person. If you add in the value of all the corporate stock in the country, that another $10-20 trillion or so. The value of the total output of American businesses (the GDP) is another ten-odd trillion. If you added all of them together, the value would be close to $70,000 per person.
Since this topic has been discussed so recently, I’ll close this thread and direct further comment to the earlier thread, linked to above.
