First of all, I’m a guy. Secondly, I would still like to hear what you claim President Carter said in his convention speech. If he did actually say that American Middle-Eastern policy is controlled by Jews, there would have to be some record of that. Certainly, when Congressman Moran from Virginia said something similar a year ago, that was reported.

And Moran just said that to about 120 people. If you’re correct, Carter would have said that to the entire convention, plus people at home watching, plus all the media representatives covering the convention. Certainly, if nothing else, Carter would have been criticized by Jewish organizations and the Republican party.
Great Debates is for debating. If you state a position on here, it’s going to be challenged, and people are going to argue against it. Unfortunately, in this thread, for example, you don’t seem to be willing to support your position with either facts or logical inference, and you seem to want people to accept controversial statements you make, without any support for them. That really isn’t acceptable on these boards. I think you’ll find that people are more willing to listen to what you have to say if, instead of insulting people who disagree with you or ask you questions, you treat them respectfully, and support your assertions with facts.

There’s another aspect of debate from every individuals mind that seems to elude the majority of you, when the debate is of each persons mind and not just someone elses words you can quote.
Here is an example. On another thread, some here have been discussing DU, its properties, as well as its causes and effects. I will now show you something else I have learned since that thread began and that is, IF, all those tiny hard particles were to say, enter the brain and come to a blood vessel in the brain, that is very small, could those tiny particles create a blockage in the brain, causing not only a possible death, but many more things?
I would also submit, that any soldier could already have some sort of blockage and these tiny hard particles could exacerbate the problem, even to the point of death. Since the brain is not the only organ in the body, or places where these tiny particles can build up, who’s to say it could not create many differing kinds of problems or even death?
And you thought debate was all about web sites you could go to. LOL Get a mind boys and girls, learn to think and debate for yourselves.
BS. I have enjoyed the threads you have started. I recognise your willingness to concede a degree of fallibility. I admire your ability to shrug off ridicule. I do really believe, however, that the value of your contibutions to the SDMB will be immeasurably enhanced by your acquiring the ability to make a cite. Any cite. Whatsoever. Please. It provides us all with a mechanism to justify our positions. In this arena, it is a key debating skill. Ah, the mysterious “opinion-based debating method” that none of us have ever quite grasped. Sure, you can go that route. Of course, you’ll continue to be eaten alive in every debate you start here, forcing the joining of hands of liberals and conservatives alike against you, but it’s still an option. The other option is to actually back up those opinions with evidence. It’s a novel concept, and admittedly foreign on many internet message boards, but pretty standard fare around these parts. You’ve found a whole new world here. Lurking helps to grasp that.
This is a hypothetical. Why don’t you bring up this hypothetical in that thread? It might cause the experts to go “Hmm, that’s intriguing”, or they might say “Bollocks, as has been demonstrated by Professors Penn & Teller at Harvard in the study on ‘Tiny particles of ceramic, nay DU, have no effect upon entering the brain’s blood vessels’, which was peer reviewed by the following list of Eleventy Zillion scientists in their field”, but either way, I’m sure you’ll be responded to appropriately.

First of all, let me point out that I did not say the JEWS as some may take that as a derogatory statement aimed at the Jewish people, from all I know. I blame the Jewish leadership, as I blame the so called non Jewish leadership in this country. They are both at fault and both are to be reviled for such ignorance.

Funny you should mention the republican party in all this, but as I have come to see it, the democrats are against the rule of not only the republican leadership, as I am against the democratic leadership and the republican leadership, for many reasons. One of those reasons seems to be that the republican leadership in this country is heavily slanted in favor of the Jewish nation, while much of the democratic leadership is slanted against them, further dividing this nation.
I agree, great debates is for debating and hardly the place for people that depend on web sites and other peoples words to make their points. I expect so much more from the entire nation of the UNITED STATES. I want to be challenged and I want to be proven wrong when I am wrong, so that I may learn and become smarter as I teach all my grandchildren. No, I do not want people to redily accept what I say, I want them to prove me wrong, but I want them to prove me wrong with the living of their everyday lives, and not someone elses words and web sites, especially from those of any goverment that coinsistantly lies to its own people. If you have watched, many have used pettiness and ignorance to answer me and if they had but said something with respect, such as, I believe you to be wrong and cited their own initiative, I would have been much nicer and much more respectful. It is hardly what you say, but how you say it.

I was taught to be a southern gentleman and taught to search for the good in people, but as you can see, I can and will fight, even though I wish respect and peace, for each human being.

That could be in the form of a website, magazine, book, interview or pamphlet. A mutually-agreed upon group of verified facts is the cornerstone of solid debate. So far, you have not engaged in such.

Well, you’ve been challenged on the statement that Americans pay far greater than 50% of their income in taxes and you have not provided any supporting evidence. Are we simply to take your word for it? Why don’t you just take my word that we pay less than 50%? You came to your conclusion based on some information.
