How much sleep?

Between four and 12, sometimes none if I have lots of stuff to do. This past morning I got into bed at 2 and got to sleep around 4 or so, thern woke up at 8.

Weeknights: 6 hours with at least an interruption
Weekends: 8 hours or until interrupted

Need more than I used to; “back then” I could pull an all-nighter, punch in a 16 hour day and still manage to go out the next night.

Then again, I’m a thwarted night owl. (Notice that it’s 3:30 and a weekend when I’m posting this?)

I can scrape through on 6 hours per night, but pay for it with slowly increasing sluggishness and stupidity. Unfortunately, sleeping in and refilling the “sleep bank” doesn’t work as well as it used to. It just makes me groggy and more screwed up on sleep schedules.

Too many years of enforced schedules snap me awake around 6 a.m. no matter what.

Basically I’m a born owl forced into a lark’s schedule. I just wish I could get the 8 hours I need, when I need them.

Well, since I’m thinking about how little I sleep right now, I thought I’d post to this thread.
I need would like 4 hours. I’ve never really needed much sleep, and I get a lot of writing done at night. Though I could get away with as little as 3 hours. If I see that I’m going to get any less than that, I just don’t bother going to sleep. So I sometimes go 2 or 3 days without sleep. Oh well.

Before kids, I apparently got all the sleep I needed. I now function on 3-5 hours ( interupted) a night. If I actually get a few more than that, I am all discomboobalated. (This has nothing to do with my tits, TYVM)

Most nights I get 5-6 hours, except when me or my lover are feeling a little frisky, then I lose 15 minutes.

7 is average for me, both on weeknights and weekends.

What’s the recommended amount? I’ve heard that you’re tired because you sleep in an inconsistent manner (like one night to bed at 11pm and up at 7am and the next night to bed at 4am and up at 10am.) Does anyone know if this is true?

I usually get from 6-8 hours, I do better with 8 but a lot of times 6 is all I get.

About 5 hours a day. I work nights.

I average around 5-6 hours a night weeknights, 8-10 on weekends. Less than 5 and I’m fried all day, head nodding at my computer at work. My husband is the insomniac.
He might sleep 2-3 hours a night, with (maybe) an hour or two nap. But some nights he doesn’t sleep at all. Poor baby.

6 hours is a lot for me, especially on weeknights. Sometimes I sleep in on Sundays (as much as 9 or 10 hours). I’m 27 and I still pull all-nighters and go in to work. Then sometimes <shudder> I go pull another all-nighter if I have to. Up to about 36 hours sleepless, I’m OK. After 48 hours, I started being very careful about everything I do, because I know I’m seriously messed up. I don’t think I could repeat the 72-hours-and-I’m-still-capable-of-calculus marathons of college anymore. I’m sure I don’t want to!
