How much Soda do you drink Today, compared to your teen and young adult years?

About the same: I have soda once or twice a month. I didn’t like it any more than that as a kid.

I go thru about four liters a day–so waaaay more. I figure I’m poisoning my self with. . . something. Stay tuned. I’ll probably be a good case study on the long-term negative effects of diet soda some day.

I drank a fair amount of soda back in my teens and 20s. Now, almost none at all. I had no trouble burning off the calories back then. That’s not the case anymore, so I’ve long since given up sodas for calorie-free alternatives.

Diet sodas taste like crap to me, so switching from sugared to diet sodas wasn’t something I even considered.

That’s actually one reason Mountain Dew was my soda of choice. It was the only one I found that didn’t taste like complete ass when it was flat or warm.

There was a time in my early 20’s I drank almost nothing else. I liked to fill a 32-oz cup all the way with ice, top it off with soda, wait a couple minutes for it to get super-cold all the way through, then drink the whole thing in just a couple of gulps. I would repeat this maybe a half dozen times a day.

Now I buy a 20 oz. soda at lunch on Monday, and usually still have an inch or two left in the bottle when I leave the office Friday.

Almost none, I’ve mostly lost the taste for sugary drinks. Exceptions…

Mixers in cocktails, especially ginger ale.
Root beer with pizza. It’s not just a good idea, it’s the law. (or should be).

I’d say about the same amount (the occasional soda can). Unless carbonated water counts, in which case it’s a lot more (like two gallons or more a week).

I drank a lot of Coke when I was younger. A Coke with lunch, a large slurpee on the way home from work sometimes, a Coke with supper, and two or three Cokes during the evening while surfing the net, playing games, whatever.

Now I don’t drink any at all, because I have type II diabetes. (-:

It was a special treat at our house growing up. We kids had milk or any of various juices. There was also Tang and Kool-aid and on Sunday we had sweet tea. Sodas were for parties. Coke, Sprite and Dr. Pepper with an occasional Tab for the diabetics.

I drink about 2 liters of diet soda every day. At least.

Significantly less, that is, zero.
Coke (no, not Coca Cola) was only consumed at parties or restaurants when I was a kid. I drank more at college because that was what was served at Chuck-n-puke Dining hall.
I can’t stand coffee, so Mountain Dew and Jolt got me to graduation.
I never cared for lemon-lime, so I would drink Mountain Dew and Coke if I was out of the house. I was fortunate to grow up with delicious well water, so that’s what I drink at home.
At one point, I was forced to avoid caffeine, so I quit for five years, and when I tried again, I found them far to sweet and at the same time acidic.
I seriously dislike the side effects of carbonation, so only ginger ale for an upset stomach; water and iced tea for every day rehydration.

Anyone else picturing Gus sitting cross-legged on the floor playing X-Box, chewing Twizzlers, and wearing a baseball cap insisting to all that he’s a grown man and he can do as he pleases?
mmm

I drank soda a lot as a tween, and 13- 14-year-old, but I developed a weird aversion to it when I was about 15. I didn’t drink it at all for several years. Then, when I was 20, I was in the dorm in DC (Gallaudet), and the water in DC is just terrible. I used to drink a lot of plain water and tea, but plain water, and tea didn’t taste right. So I took up coffee, and started drinking soda again. I became a pretty heavy coffee drinker until I finished college; now it’s pretty much one mug (about 12 ounces) in the morning, and that’s it. I tried to give up soda again in my 30s to cut back generally on stuff that isn’t good for me, but decided I liked it too much. I did cut back a lot. I couldn’t stand diet Coke, but when Coke Zero came out, I decided I actually liked that, so now that’s what I drink.

I drink less soda than I did in my 20s, but more than I did in my teen. I picked “the same,” in the poll, because I figure it averages out.

Even though I drink it almost every day, I am really not a heavy consumer. I rarely drink more than about 8 ounces a day, and that has always been true. Considering how many people I know who drink 1-2 24 ounce bottles a day, I drink very little.
