The other day the topic of the world population growth came up.
My buddy says there is nothing to worry about because among other things, every human on this planet could fit into the state of Texas and have half to a full acre of space to live on.
Forgetting about the consumption of resources, lack of water, etc.
is what my buddy said true?
Could every living human on Earth fit into Texas with an acre of land each?
No, Texas is 267339 square miles in area, that’s 171096960 acres. For 6x10[sup]9[/sup] people, that works out to 0.0285 acres/person. That’s 1242 sq. ft. per person.
Given the size of my home and the number of people who live in it, we’re a bit crowded. Nevertheless, I’d rather not have my 1242 feet in the middle of Lake Buchanan or the Rio Grande Delta.
