I overheard a conversation on the subway this morning. These two women were talking about a third woman and they said in an astonished tone, that she took over an hour to put on her makeup.
Then they said that it shouldn’t take more than half an hour.
?!?!?!
Now I realize that maybe the job is different for going to work or class and going on a date so tell.
95% of the time: none. However, sometimes I do go ahead and gussy up if I’m going out or whatever.
Quickie job for maybe an informal gathering or anything during the daytime: maybe ten minutes.
Full-out job for a big event that is going to be darkly lit: fifteen minutes to half an hour, depending how elaborate I want to get with the eye makeup.
I’m having trouble envisioning what could take somebody an hour. Perhaps she dresses up in full kabuki makeup before leaving her home each morning?
On occasion, I used to think about putting on makeup - like when we were going to dinner at a fancy restaurant. Luckily I moved to the Great White North, where “fancy restaurant” means someplace that doesn’t serve pasties as a regular part of the menu (but may offer them as a special.) No makeup needed.
About five minutes. That’s for eyebrow pencil, eyeliner, eye shadow, foundation, powder, and a touch of blush. I can’t imagine make-up taking an hour. It only takes me 45 minutes total to get ready, sometimes less, including a shower.
I don’t wear it on a daily basis because I feel like my skin is better off for not wearing it everyday. However, when I do go all out and get togged up it takes about 30 minutes-10 for a slight dab of foundation, blush and lipstick. And then 20 minutes to make sure my kohl goes on properly (I have slightly shakey hands) so it’s not that I wear a lot but my lack of manual dexterity means that I require about 10 minutes per eye unless I want to look like a raccoon.
From tub to car, if rushed I can do it all in an hour. The actual make-up part is probably 20-25 minutes, hair is another 10-15. I usually get in the tub at 4:50 and I’m out the door by 6:20, but there is considerable smoking, drinking coffee, loading dishwasher, ironing, folding, and playing with kitties that runs parallel to the beautification process.
About 5 minutes (and that includes me washing my face, scrubbing it with toner and putting on moisturizer and then concealer, bronzer and eyeliner). It may take up to 15 minutes if I am going somewhere special, but that rarely ever happens now that I am married.
I’m a hair person. It takes me about 30 minutes to do my hair in the morning (wash, detangle, blow dry straight and flat iron). So after spending all that time on my hair, the last thing I feel like doing is makeup.
I can’t imagine spending 30 minutes, never mind a whole hour, on makeup. But then again, some of yo umight not understand why I spend so much time on my hair! (for the record, I have long naturally curly hair that I hate, hence the whole straightenning operation)
I’ve got my entire dressed/hygeine/makeup routine down to about 25 mins, of which makeup takes about 10. And I do pretty much full makeup every day: foundation, concealer, blush, powder, eyeshadow, liner, and mascara.
It only takes me 5 minutes to put my make up on. I wear foundation, powder, blush, eyeliner, and lipstick. I can shower, dress, blow dry my hair, put on my make up and be ready to walk out the door in 45 minutes. Blow drying my hair takes the longest. I get up at 5:45 every morning and am ready by 6:30 and then I have to get the kids up and I straighten the house and play with the dog while they’re getting ready.
Five minutes. I only wear eyeliner, mascara, and some lipstick. Plus I brush my brows. If I’m going out I might put on some liquid eyeliner which doesn’t take much longer. I never wear foundation unless it’s a really fancy event and then only sparingly.
My whole routine in the morning takes only an hour and that includes a long shower, ironing, and plenty of time to sit on the dge of the tub reading while a cat sits in my lap and I pet the on the one who is sitting on the toilet with my foot…
That is for moisturizer, concealer, foundation, blush, two shades of eyeshadow, eyeliner, mascara and a quick comb through the eyebrows to make sure they are behaving.
Then again, I am ready for work in 15 minutes as long as I don’t wash my hair. Normally I wash my hair at night so it has plenty of time to dry.
Another natural beauty checking in. Or at least that’s what I like to tell myself.
I don’t wear make-up on a regular basis. The times that do, say a funeral, a show, fine dining, etc. I can do it in about fifteen minutes. That includes foundation (really just a few sweeps of this weird creamy powder stuff), lip liner, lipstick, eye liner, eye shadow, mascara and blush.
Less than five minutes. Probably less than three minutes, but I’ve never timed it. That’s for moisturizer, foundation, lipgloss, lipstick and loose powder.
If we add in hair prep time, that’s another four seconds to comb, and maybe an additional minute if I’m using product.
50 minutes from out of the bed to out of the door. Make up is about 15 of it - tops. Foundation, blush, eyeliner, eye shadow, mascara, powder. I wear jeans every day to work, though - if I were wearing heels and nylons and a dress and such, it usually runs about an hour to an hour and 15 minutes.
