Have you met many drillers or visited many wells? This is a situation where I’m surprisingly happy with “Big Oil” (and Gas), but there’s an awful lot of mom and pop in the shale formations. I’m not sure exactly which Paredo we’re dealing with. But I bet there is plenty of combined profit and GHG reduction if we weren’t dealing with so many cowboys.
The only silver lining is that the Trump administration might (might) push for nuclear power. It would be ironic if Trump did more for global warming than Obama while denying it exists.
Oh, I like it! Sorta like how secular humanists believe in evolution, but only have one or two kids, whereas religious fundamentalists think evolution is a lie, then have a dozen kids.
Again, rising mean sea levels are the least of the concerns arising from global climate change, nor do effects immediately reverse once some other administration comes about and passes regulations. The longer atmospheric carbon production goes unmitigated, the worse the effects will manifest and the more difficult it will be to achieve any significant reversal.
The only reason the Trump administration will push for nuclear power would be because Donald Trump–I’m sorry, Donald Trump’s “blind trust” managed by his children–gets a cut of the infrastructure work, and if is like every other development project Trump is involved in, it’ll be done at cut rate quality or will go bankrupt while failing to consider the long term ramifications. This is not a silver lining; it’s a uranium hexafluoride milkshake in your cup. Drink up.

I drink your milkshake !
I live in florida
. Miami Beach is already getting flooded every spring. The solution?
Hundreds of millions are going to be spent on building and maintaining this in one city alone. Miami Beach can afford it, but your average small town? ![]()
Worse, all those hundreds of millions are only good for a few decades, then it won’t be enough.

It might be cheaper on average, but maybe not at small scale. A battery breakthrough is the missing link right now.
Natural gas is GREAT. What’s not great is methane leaking into the atmosphere. I don’t have numbers but it’s worrisome because methane is way worse for the atmosphere than CO2 as a greenhouse gas. An order of magnitude worse…
That is very scary. i can’t believe the acidity of the entire ocean rose so much. That’s crazy. People won’t panic because all they see is 0.1 pH and don’t realize how enormous that is, especially in the context of life!
More nuclear would be good. Modern reactors that don’t require active cooling are very safe and much less harmful than fossil fuels without a doubt. I doubt this will happen under president Trump. that would be too nice…I guess. Take a look:
How’d’ya fare yesterday? We had a spring tide and perigee at the same time. Generally this is when we see the highest tides, although this might not matter at Miami Beach explicitly.
I do not believe that the amount of hot air that Trump could theoretically emit has been calculated.
Global Thermonuclear War is an idea whose time has come, and a great solution to the problems of Climate Change.
Reduce the planetary population by 2 or 4 billion humans. There will still be plenty of them left. Move the technology and the power needed to support it to low energy, innovative, solutions. Stone knives and bear skins. Because, if you are honest about it, our insatiable need for bigger, better, faster, is the engine driving the power demands that are at the root of the problem. We are the problem, and everything we want adds to the problem.
Too many people, too much food and power needed to support them, too many negative by-products created by them. That is what is driving the climate changes.
Nuclear winter is just an added by-product. The benefits will be HUGE! Bigger than his hands!
