Good point. I’ve had a few sunroofs and they all have one-touch open but none had one-touch close.
(After my first car with one-touch driver’s-side window open, it took years to add one-touch close. Go figure.)

Raises hand. I’ve never owned a car w/o one; it’s one of three requirements for any car I buy. Like GrumpyBunny I’ve gotten wet, especially after it’s stopped raining but there’s still water up there. Get in car, open sunroof, first time you hit the brakes, all of the water on the roof goes forward…& then down into the opening. :smack:
This is the only reason I would get a car w/o one.
The only one I can think of is my car lets you upload a photo to use as the background on the center console display. Never bothered to do that.
The CD player is probably the least used, but we visit a lot of national parks and they often have CD’s that are used for the self driving tour. We’ve used that at Valley Forge, Yorktown, and a few others.
Mine stops halfway to prevent anyone getting stuck and injured after accidentally pushing it. It’s a feature, not a bug, no matter how unlikely the situation is.
Come on, you’re missing an opportunity! Coworker bugging you to carpool, and they have terrible taste in music? Upload something very NSFW, like goatse!
The only time I can remember using the CD player in our CX-5 is when we were still shopping for it at the dealership. One of the things I was trying to decide on was whether it was worth paying for the upgraded sound system, as I knew we’d be cash-poor after the purchase, and I didn’t really want to go the aftermarket route with a new vehicle. So during one of the four trips we made to the dealership over the couple of weeks we were considering the CX-5, I brought a mix CD with me that had a dynamic collection of music I tend to like, and I sat in it for about 20 minutes just playing that CD.
Since we bought it, we use Sirius or Pandora or Bluetooth on our phones for music. I can’t recall using the CD player for anything in the four years since we’ve owned the vehicle.
I’m a huge worry-wart when I’m driving; always listening for hinky sounds (mechanical/traffic) signaling potential repairs/disasters. Don’t need a sound system.
My fog lights haven’t worked since I bought my car (used) a few years ago. I keep telling myself I’ll get them fixed, but haven’t yet. The aftermarket stereo has a CD player that I think I’ve only used once.
I like power locks, but I’d really rather have hand-crank windows.
I’ve had cars with traction control, and always disabled it. Most useless system I’ve ever encountered when driving in situations where traction is actually limited. Why no, I don’t want the damn computer applying the brakes and cutting the throttle when I’m trying to climb a snow-covered hill, thank you very much.
Five times in seven years is a pretty good hit rate. I don’t think I’ve even had my wife in the back of my current car.
I’ve never used the button that turns off the stability control - I will one day, but it seems to work pretty well and isn’t too intrusive.
Aside from the actual operating controls, I think the convertible top is my most used function. It’s been 5 cars over 20 years since I had a car with a fixed roof. And I hope to keep that streak going u til I no longer am able to drive.
Another feature I don’t use: my car has an electrically operated, inflating, adjustable lumbar support. Every ‘active’ position is wrong. My spine apparently goes the other direction.
It also has a ski pass through. I tried it out just to see how it works (my first day or so of owning a new car is trying every single function listed in the manual) but since I don’t ski, I’ve not popped that hatch since.
Heh. Still, I feel like my one moment of being practical has saddled me with more car than I want. Should have bought a Boxster instead.
That’s where the fun is!
I had one of those installed in my 1983 Toyota Tercel. It was the kind that pops up to open, on a hinge on the front edge. It was kinda nice, and never leaked in the seven years I had the car.
I love sunroofs and I wish my car had one.
My most useless features are probably the automatic headlights and headlight height adjustment. I only want the headlights on when I decide, not any time it’s dark and I turn the ignition on. As far as the height adjustment, I think it’s so you can adjust the headlights lower if you have a lot of weight in the back. I’ve never had occasion to use them and would probably forget if I did.
I’ve use it a few times to find my car in a crowded parking lot.
