How not to throw up.

I know this wasn’t asked, but isn’t it better to throw up than to let all that continue through your system? I always feel better after I throw up.

Wow, I got through college without throwing up once. I am some kind of boring.

I get the mouthful of saliva when I am about to throw up, though. I remember that from being a kid. I don’t think I’ve thrown up since I was about 13.

If you’re so drunk you’re going to spew, I figure it’s better to go ahead and spew. You’ll feel better the next day. (Of course it’s best not to get that loaded, but I suppose that’s not real helpful advice when the moment’s at hand.)

Yeah, getting a blast of coldness (to whichever place would be most sensitive) is probably the best way to sober up a tad and forestall vomiting. The more cold over a larger area the better. Dunk yourself into an ice-cold shower and there is no way you’ll want to puke. Also, taking in deep cool breaths through the nose helps. (ie why people like to step outside.) I find it helpful to blow your nose first.

This is only tangentially related to the other general category of remedies of distractions and placebos (which are effective as well). There’s something about coldness that does sober one up in itself.

No idea about having a leg on the ground, though. It would obviously relieve blood pressure off your head. That could have some positive effect. Or it could just be that putting it on the ground exposes it from under your blanket and it’s the whole coldness thing again.

When you’re getting ready to vomit, your body will start pumping out saliva (as well as lowering the tongue and raising the soft palate), likely as a buffer against stomach acid.

Nope, so it must be saliva in your case.

Nasty icky saliva with a big squck factor.

Bile comes from the liver and gets stored in the gall bladder.
