How often do you drink alcohol?

hey it’s a poll, who reads posts in a poll? especially when half the participants aren’t quite half as sober as the other half?

But of the people who drink, we drink a whole damn lot.

More than I do. :dubious: Or at least more frequently.

It really varies for me. In summer, (which is the holiday season here) there tend to be more functions and more parties and family visits and so on and that puts me into the “3 to 4 times a week sometimes approaching every day” category. Even when there is nothing on there tends to be beer in the fridge for one reason or another. Then for long stretches mid year I might go a few weeks or more without a drink at all.

Until I was thirty, I binge drank about twice a month.

Since then, never.

Hmm. I always thought you were younger.

We picked up a six pack (it was a “Man, I bet a beer would be good!” kind of day) and still had three left well over a month later. I almost never drink.

I’ll have 2-3 beers a night, maybe one night a week off. Very occasionally wine: last night I had half a bottle of delicious Montepulciano with my meal. I’ve done the same for about the past two decades.

Before anyone says anything I just had a medical and full blood tests: my liver is in perfect condition as are my kidneys.

Was having problems keeping it under control, so it’s now been over 5 weeks since I’ve had any booze. Wow, whoopty doop, 5 whole weeks. :o

Good for you, NinetyWt! Am impressed.

Other: Sometimes I drink quite often… sometimes I go quite a while without a drop; it all depends… I don’t drink habitually. I enjoy drinking as much as I enjoy being sober and having clear mind.

Two or three times a week in summertime. Frozen drinks are my weakness and there are lots of local places that make excellent ones. Living in a summer resort makes drinking enjoyable…nothing better on a sunny summer afternoon than sitting at a deck bar overlooking the ocean, listening to reggae and enjoying a delicious beverage. I rarely drink in the fall/winter.

Why is “once per month” the last option? I’m looking for a “never,” and I’m sure there are plenty of people in between.

A couple beers a week, usually something I haven’t tried yet.

This. Of the posters who drink, nearly 60% drink at minimum 3 to 4 times per week.

I guess the poll should include a never option, and an option for less frequent that once per month.

But then again quantity counts. If you have 1 beer or 1 glass of wine every day, then that is no problem, but would look no different in the poll than a guy that has to chug Black Velvet out of a brown paper bag every two hours to keep from seizing. There is a bit of a difference between the two.

You usually don’t keep your consumption down to a couple of beers a week?

I hardly drink. Maybe once every six months if that. I think I have gone years. Alcoholism runs in my family so I decided a long time ago not to really get into that much.

Plus, I’ve been around drunk people. I don’t see the big deal or the fun in it.

Then you are probably not at risk for alcoholism. Our brains work differently.

Never. Haven’t had a drink in over 20 years. Believe me, you are ALL grateful (not to mention safer and happier, with all of your stuff intact…).

We have leftover booze from our wedding - our nine year anniversary is Wednesday. Not only can we not get rid of our booze, but we keep getting more somehow - we have people over and they leave a couple beers, etc.

I finally cracked the Bombay Sapphire gin - I thought I hated gin, but damn, that stuff is actually good! I tried a little of that with tonic water, and I finally get why people drink gin and tonics!

If you liked that, try Tanqueray gin next.

Please ignore this advice.

It’s re-e-ea-a-l g-o-o-o-od. Mmmmmm.
