I answered <1/month. I’ll hit McD’s maybe twice a year. But I stronly disagree with putting Au Bon Pain on that list. It’s not fast food, it’s good wholesome food served quickly. They use quality ingredients and most things are made to order.
Having said that, last night I searched out and made an effort to get to a KFC. A man has NEEDS, you know?
Now that we have a kid, we eat fast food more than we used to, primarily Chick-Fil-A and Taco Bell. But we’re still only talking maybe twice a month.
As a Firesign Theatre fan from way back, I’m delighted to discover, from the link in the OP, that there’s a chain of pizza restaurants in Wisconsin called Rocky Rococo. Hopefully former SDMB poster regnad kcin is aware of this!
The local Yellow Pages site lists 95 restaurants within a 1km radius of my house; personally, that number seems WAY too small. It probably doesn’t include coffee shops, most of which serve surprisingly decent food.
Why on earth would I ever go to a chain restaurant?
I rarely eat fast food… maybe once every couple of months.
But the diet I eat isn’t a whole lot healthier anyways, just cheaper! I’m a bachelor without a lot of incentive to actually cook as opposed to make something to eat that’s quick and easy…
There’s still one in Minnesota too (Brooklyn Park to be exact) and they’re pretty good. The thick sugary crust is yummy.

Probably once or twice a week, which is too high. Tends to be grabbing food after shopping, and of the Costco-hot-dog or McDonald’s-drive through variety.

I answered two-three times a month because I get Chipotle. But I forgot about the Costco hot dog which would bring me up to once-a-week.
I used to be almost once a day and sometimes more. Now I live near a McDonald’s and forget about it as an eating option.
Fool of a Tok, I had to go with, “Mind your own damn business,” because nothing else seemed to fit.
When at home I virtually never eat fast food, a couple of times a year. Lately I’ve been going to Roundtable Pizza for lunch but only eat the salad bar, so I’m not counting that.
When Ms Hook and myself are on the road however we eat fast food several times a week. For lunch we generally split one Subway sandwich. If Jason can loose 5,000 pounds how bad can they be? And they really are good.
I feel like such an outlier. I’m a bachelor, and on the money = time equation, I consider my time more valuable than the money. I stop for breakfast most days on the way to work, and I’ll usually stop for dinner on the way home.
I can cook, and if I made the effort I could probably reduce my food budget to less than half of what it is now. But the effort involved in intelligent grocery shopping followed by consistent, regular cooking just doesn’t seem worth it for one person. Even just two people make a much more effective use of groceries and time. But by myself…hell with it, I’d rather relax at a restaurant after work, even a cheap fast food place, than go home to work even more for so little gain.
I used to eat McDonalds breakfasts every weekend as a hangover cure. There was one within walking distance of my apartment in Chicago.
Now, it depends. Sometimes 1-2 a week, sometimes I’ll go for several weeks without. Mostly I’ll eat there because it’s convenient, although every so often I get a craving.
