It’s an example of case, which is a very small grammatical issue in English. There are other languages, Latin for example, where case is a big deal and people have to pay more attention to it.
Different Presidents do different things. Ford and Obama were mentioned earlier. JFK often bummed money from friends, despite being quite wealthy himself. Reagan once stopped at a McDonald’s during the 1984 campaign. He ordered his lunch, took the tray and then walked away without paying, much to the glee of the White House press corps. He didn’t have any money with him, so an aide paid for the meal.
