How reliable is 1st/2nd order in revealing bias/preference?

Don’t know if this is already an explored phenomenon, but ISTM that a great majority of the time, when there are 2 opposing sides, the side that someone mentions first will usually reveal their bias.

I.,e if a voter is a Republican, they are likely to say “Republicans and Democrats” rather than “Democrats and Republicans”, with their preferred side being ordered 1st rather than 2nd.

Or, if the Red Sox and Yankees are playing, a Red Sox fan would invariably say “Red Sox vs. Yankees” rather than “Yankees vs. Red Sox.”
Sure, sometimes it might just be alphabetical (i.e., Red Sox comes before Yankees) but usually it seems more to be subconscious bias; does this seem like a somewhat-reliable indicator?
