How reliable is Frank Waters' Book of the Hopi?

In my mispent youth reading “Chariots of the Gods”-type material, I came across references to Frank Waters “Book of the Hopi”, which discussed the Great Spirit Taiowa, His nephew/right-hand man Sotuknang, and Spider Woman- who together created the four worlds, three of which perished by natural disasters/Divine Judgements, the fourth we are living in now & also under threat of Divine Judgement by natural disaster. I see it persists in being cited by New Agers warning us of the coming Earth changes.

Anyway, it all seems a bit too conveniently consistent with both Christian (a quasi-Trinity) and New Age Apocalyptism. So I was wondering- are these authentic teachings of traditional Hopi spirituality, did Frank Waters make them up, or are they Christianized/Theosophized distortions of actual Hopi teaching?
