How should Biden finish out his Presidency?

Which is precisely what should have been done in 2021 or 2022, when the Dems controlled both Houses and the White House.

Get Kamala out doing more official public-facing events where she is not campaigning but speaking for the Executive. Show people that, unlike Trump, she can treat such occasions as something other than a campaign rally. IOW, give her some chances to look presidential - something that Trump never pulled off when in office let alone now.

There’s no reason that mine should be a fantasy.

If it is, just imagine the decades and generations of gaslighting that it would take for the voters to largely accept that as a given, and still show up at the ballot booth at anything higher than a tiny, single-digit fraction of the population.

Immigration can only partly be solved here. More diplomatic work elsewhere is needed too, and I don’t think Biden should go, but he can still heft his weight around the world until his term is up.

Right after the election, pardon his son and name him Ambassador to Ukraine. Just to rub it in their faces.

Okay, if we are going in that direction, award the Medal of Freedom to Dr Fauci, the Pelosis, AOC, Hilary, Obama…

Oh, yes, yes, yes! The Right hates Fauci almost as much as they hate Obama.

If Limbaugh got one, Fauci should get a dozen.

‘Gerrymandering’ is not this easily defined behavior you can simply outlaw with a law or constitutional amendment:

Dr. Anthony Fauci has already been awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom “efforts to advance understanding and treatment of HIV/AIDS”:

Stranger

For values of “controlled” that include Joe Manchin and Kristen Sinema.

Pardon Hunter. Funny how all of a sudden now nobody gives two shits about Hunter having a laptop.

Visit the ISS.

Get Jackson’s ass off the twenty dollar bill.

Move the US embassy to Israel back to Tel Aviv. I think it was inflammatory to move it to Jerusalem.

Learn a magic trick and perform it during his farewell address.

Sign an executive order giving his children SS protection for a year after he leaves office- just like Grifter Don did.

If Harris wins, wear a speedo to her inauguration. If she loses, bugger out without attending.

Revoke Rush Limbaugh’s Presidential Medal of Freedom.

That’s certainly an eclectic list.

I’m happy to write up some text and you’re free to try to find flaw with it.

If Biden is still a smart guy before 8pm, I’m skeptical that he can’t put something reasonable together that, if nothing else, does better than what we have today (nothing). And, worst case, he can always DM me.

I had a feeling that may be the case. He can get another one, just to rub it in their faces.

Oddly, a search of “Seal Team Six” gets no results on this page.

I just don’t get this shit. Hunter Biden IS a fucking nepo-baby of sorts. He deserves nothing, especially a pardon from his father of all people. Yeah, he was a victim of malicious persecution. But Hunter was properly convicted by a jury, he did commit a crime even if it is one that is not usually pursued. If he didn’t want to get convicted, he shouldn’t have given the Republicans an opening to do so by lying about buying guns while an addict. It is highly, highly likely that he did (legally) trade on his father’s name at some point in his life. Which while not illegal, sure doesn’t make me respect Hunter one little bit. Pinning his failings (such as they are) on Joe Biden and implying corruption on President Biden’s part was as far as anyone can tell utter bullshit. But Biden pardoning his son for something he did do would just validate all the memes.

Vindictiveness to piss off the other side is what drives many of the worst MAGA-types. They’d cut off their own arms to see liberal tears. I think it’s worth trying to be better than the lower common denominator of the dregs of this nation.

No reason he can’t get a second for efforts to combat Covid19 and educate Americans on the threat of the pandemic.

I would like to see Biden work to repair the situation in Gaza, to shift Israel’s approach against Hamas to something more humane, and get Israel to commit to funding a post Hamas rebuilding of the Gaza strip infrastructure. If he could get a major shift in Israel policy and advocate for the civilian non- combatants, he could do a lot to simultaneously rebuild progressive support for the Dems and help Harris, and cement his legacy with a foreign affairs coup of completely unprecedented proportions.

Think of the positive gain to the world if he could get Palestinians seeing Israelis as their benefactors instead of oppressors, especially in the face of Hamas’s deliberate sacrifice of the civilians.

Maybe too big an ask for 6 months, but possibly lay the groundwork to be a Carteresque diplomat.

Alternately, after the election and hopefully Harris’s win, and after certification that hopefully is uneventful, he should do something to put a point on this newfound immunity for official acts that puts the SC Justices in the hot seat and shows how risky that ruling is. Biden might have to play the sacrificial lamb and do something that makes the courts have to challenge that immunity.

If the outcome were Biden doing something that clearly is an abuse of power but is within his official sphere of duties, that would put that question back to the Court, possibly a court with a new makeup, he could end up getting the ruling reversed. The consequence of which might be his own legal jeopardy.

But if he did, he could likely go down as the Greatest President ever, making the unselfish sacrifice to make the point that Presidential power is too great to allow the unlimited protection of broad immunity.

Presidents should be accountable under the law. That’s why our founders wanted a President and not a King.

As far as Hunter, if Trump wins maybe, but if Harris wins, I don’t see Joe pardoning him. Better to protect the precedent that the justice system is independent. Harris could then grant a commutation on grounds that the conviction and punishment were politically motivated.

That’s why Lyndon Johnson was eligible to run again in 1968 (although he ended up withdrawing).

For his next State of the Union, he should walk in carring a PBR tall boy. After he takes his position, but before he starts speaking, he turns around to Mike Johnson and says, “Hold this.”

I like it.except for Biden pushing the immunity thing. Nope, I think he and his family have given enough. They shouldn’t have to lose thier retirement to the machinations of the rightwingers.
