In a dream thread a short time ago I mentioned how I slept on my shoulder wrong - and i got plunked by a Bob Gibson fastball in my dream, the che matching the soreness of my shoulder when I awakened.
I also had a dream in college with a vicious swordfight between a number of knights, only to wake up and find my roommate clanging clothes hangers.
And, of course, many may well remember the Calvin & Hobbes strip where Calvin pulls things like a phone out of his desk, only to find out it’s his alarm clock.
What is the strangest way real life has impacted your dreams?
May be a little off topic - I had a dream in which I seemed to mix Return of the King with Star wars II (attack of the clones) - Gandalf arrives to a battle triumphant about what he’s brought with him - thousands and thousands of clones of… Gandalf!
As for the OP - I know I’ve had dreams where what’s happening in real life just before I wake up has influenced the content of the dream I am having. But I can’t remember any examples. It’s a good thread though and I will probably think about it when I go to sleep tonight.
When I was at boarding school in my last year, I was a prefect, and in charge of all the young’uns in my dorm in case of fire and such.
One night I was dreaming that my best friend and I were robbing a bicycle store. Don’t ask why. We’re about to “leave” when in my dream, an incredibly loud bell rings, and I start yelling (in the dream) that the burglar alarm is going off and to run.
I wake up after a few seconds and realise its the fire alarm in the boarding house, and all the others are standing in single file at the fire escape waiting for me to open the door. (the door triggered another alarm so I was the only one allowed to open it unless I was absent.)
Kept me out of bicycle stores for a while, I can tell you…
It’s not exactly very creative, but when I was younger I had a dream that an evil wizard was putting a curse on me that would make me hear an annoying beep for the rest of my life. Of course, someone’s car alarm went off across the street.
