How tall are you?

There was a woman, from Russia, who was like 6’4" tall, this was back in the 80’s. She was very self-conscience about her height so she looked for medical opinion, and at the time it was commonplace that medical science was experimenting with body enhancements and alterations.

Well… the Russian scientists determined that they could remove up to six inches of femur from both legs that would lower he height to 5’10" ish. She agreed to, and had, the operation.

One thing the doctors forgot consider though… when she stood up her arms hung to the floor.

I was 5’4" from age 13 to my early 30’s. Then one day I went to the doctor and they told me I was 5’5". I think years of yoga “grew” me an inch.

Male. Just shy of 6’. (Measured barefoot, I’m 5’ 11.5".) I round up on my license.

5’9" male. It is considered average… I am convinced it is the large hispanic population that keeps the average this low.

6’1". Tall but not too tall. I feel a lot taller in Massachusetts than I do in Louisiana or Texas.

5’5". I swear I was measured as an inch taller last year. :frowning: That’s taller than the supposed average height for a woman, but that must include lots of little old ladies or something, because most women my age seem to be taller. It’s taken a bit of adjustment to accept myself as a short-arse. :frowning:

I’m 5’11"…with a 34" waist. I mention this merely to illustrate that I’m pretty much the average size (in the US), and that the world is built around me (unlike that F.L. Wright person :p).

Somewhere between 6’2" and 6’3", according to most measurements. I lived in El Paso for 20 years, and was a grizzly bear by local standards. Here in Austin, I’m still considered tall, but not head and shoulders above the other 99%.

5’9" male. Nice and average, slightly to the tall side of the peak of the curve for my age group around here.

I predicted you would say that.

I guess Iim just psychic that way

On the bright side, you’re still taller than me. I’m not the shortest in my family, though. My aunt is 4’11" (and 3/4", as she likes to point out).

You should feel average - 5’5" is average height for a woman (in the US).

Me? 5’3.75"…so I usually round up to 5’4"

Ditto! Well about being 5’7" and somehow being taller than people who are 5’8" plus, not the male part.

I’m about the height of men who claim to be 5’9" or even 5’10". I’m only 5’7" and people often say (well men will often say), “Oh no, you’re taller than that!” Nope. That’s my true stature, folks. It’s just that height inflation just runs so rampant, nobody even knows what looks like what anymore. If you ask me how tall I am, I’ll say 5’7" or 5’8" depending on my mood, but one of those answers is a lie.

Guy - I’m somewhere between 5’7" and 5’8", a little closer to the upper range. All the girls on the dating sites want someone taller than me :frowning:

Male
6’ 1"

5’8", female. Most of the women at work are much shorter, the men range from a little shorter to 6’4" or so. There is a lot of Italian blood around here and the older generation seems tiny. But I do regularly see women over six feet.

5’ 10 1/2". I noticed the short people in Japan more than the ones in Hong Kong.

I measure as 6’3" (190 cm) for clothing, so that’s what I usually say. At the doctor’s office I’ve measured as low as 6’1" (185 cm) but usually measure around 6’2" (188 cm).

BTW, I find it funny when people think I’m tall. I guess I am, but I knew 10-15 people who were taller than me in high school.

Just about 6ft, female.

Almost exactly average. 176cm, but with bad posture and age.
