How does one search the archives?
Search Google including the phrase:
site:straightdope.com
followed by whatever terms you are looking for.
So many of us have given up on Straightdope’s search years ago.
Not really helpful, but thanks.
At the risk of misunderstanding completely, do you mean how do you search for Cecil’s columns?
There is a search box on the Home page of the site.
The search box is a little ways down the page. On Fridays it is between “This Week’s Column” (the newest column) and the “Recent Additions” and “Threadspotting” columns.
Monday through Friday, when the first thing on the home page is a Staff Report or a Classic, followed by This Week’s Column, the search box is between the newest addition and This Week’s Column. It’s just what it says, it’s a box and you enter your terms in it and hit the button and it searches for columns.
We do need to also put this search box on the archive page and that will happen at some point in the future. I think there might still be some sorting out, a lot was changed on the site and changes are being made slowly and carefully.
Hope this helps. If not please disregard.
Yes, thanks. It was hard to find with al the ads and stuff.
