My wife is a custom tailor/seamstress. she does alterations, refitting, and custom garments. One of her clients wants a garment made from a fabric which hasn’t been made since the 1970s-how would you obtain it?
The fabric in question is a nylon lycra, used by the Speedo Co, for swimsuits-the pattern was called “lunar”. She cannot even find a picture of it. does anybody know how to find it? A Google search yielded nothing.
Has she tried to contact the Speedo Co or its successor? Some companies maintain archives of their products. They may be able, at the very least, to provide a photo or description of the pattern.
The client wants a very specific pattern on a specific fabric but is unable to supply a picture? Isn’t that a bit much?
I see Nylon Lyrca online. She might be best off calling one of the online merchants and asking them if they have the pattern. Just because they don’t have it on their website doesn’t mean they don’t have a few yards of it in a corner somewhere.
