My sainted mother informs me that when my brother and I were infants, she published three stories in True Confessions magazine (!). When asked why she never told me this before, despite the fact that she well knows that I’m a writer and I bust my butt to sell to magazines, she said “Because what I wrote was lurid” (!!). I don’t think I want to read it, but a copy which she appeared in would make a nice gift. How might I find such a thing? I’ve tried eBay and I have a message in at the magazine itself, but…anyone have some TCs from late 1963 or perhaps early 1964? I’d pay a pretty price for the right one.
Ebay Canada has the August 1963 issue.
You can also try putting in a “notify me when” one shows up at backissues.com.
Perhaps if the magazine is still printing you could write to them,. They would have back copies, then perhaps they could e-mail the stories you wish?
Aw, man, I can’t help, but I want to say your mom’s my hero. I tried and tried to break into confession magazines when I was younger, but evidently I wasn’t lurid enough.
It is also possible I just wasn’t very good.
