How to get a music folder to have generic folder right-click options?

I have all my music in one folder, and I would love it if I could right click in the folder and under the ‘Arrange by’ heading, I could have the set of options that Windows uses for regular folders (that list being ‘Name, Size, Type, Modified.’) In a folder that is mostly (not even 100%) music files, I get the crap-ass list of ‘Name, Size, Type, Artist, Album Title, Year, Track Number, Duration.’)

I want to be able to list them by when they wree modified, so I can see the newest ones. I have already gone to ‘View->Customize this folder…’ and under the drop down menu for ‘Use this folder as a template’ I have selected ‘Documents (for any file type.)’ Yet if I go back to the folder and right click, I am prestented with the options for a folder designated as a ‘Music’ folder.

So is there any way to do what I want? Or am I forever doomed to have Windows know what’s best for me and my files?

I would like to know too. Does changing it to “Documents (for any file type)” and restarting the computer do anything? I can’t remember ever finding a suitable solution. You could technically create a new folder and move everything into there, but that would only last for a short while.

If you open the folder, then under ‘View’ select the ‘Details’ view, you’ll see all those options as columns.

Right-click on the column headings and you can add ‘Date Modified’, then click on it to sort by that field.

Eh, I’m not really a fan of details view. But I can at least switch it to that for a temporary soution to do what I need to do right now, I suppose.

From the View menu of Windows Explorer, select “Choose Details…”. You can then check the date modified box. That will then appear in the right click menu “Arrange Icons By >”

I love you.
