How to get a UK Video in America

There is this great series called, “Make Me.” It is narrated by Michael Mosley and produced by the BBC. You can find it here: BBC One - Make Me..., Stay Awake. I would like to watch this series again, but it aired in 2009 and I haven’t seen or heard of it airing again since.

Even if it is for sale somewhere, it is unlikely that it would work in my DVD player, because it was made in the UK, where they use a different DVD format.

So, I am wondering how to get a copy of it? Any ideas?

I couldn’t find any DVDs, but if you do find them, you can easily play them by buying one of these.

Maybe it was never been published as a DVD. I did find this though:

You might also see if you can find it on a streaming service such as Netflix. They do have several British programs availble either by mail on DVD or through streaming.

The link says the episode is not available.
Is that because I’m not in the UK?
If so, there are services like ProXPN (paid service). Typically VPN services are used by Canadians (and others) to view US-specific streaming, but Pro-XPN also has a connection point in England for this sort of viewing.
Not sure about free services, since most tend to place the exit point inside the USA.

It won’t help if the DVD was never made available but I bought a Philips DVD player for about $40-50 from Target and used a code published on the Internet to change the region code (or make it regionless). I’m then able to watch Region 2 DVDs that I purchased from Amazon.co.uk (which sends them via mail in about a week).

And if you want to watch BBC programs using their iPlayer, you need to be located in the UK, or appear to be. Google “BBC proxy” for more information. i think the SDMB moderators frown on open discussion of such services here.

Thanks for these great suggestions. It seems as though I am going to have to suck up the $250.00 + cost of purchasing this video, if I really want to watch it that bad.

Thanks again

Now I’m curious. I searched quite a bit trying to find this and the only place I found it was on the BBC site for schools where it cost 585 pounds. (I assumed you wouldn’t be interested.) Where did you find it for $250?

I don’t remember, exactly. And I looked in 2011 or so, so the price could have changed since then.

What I do remember, exactly, is that the price was woefully out of my budget, and I was not going to buy it from that source at all.

I am just going to have to wait to see if PBS or LPB will air it again, and DVR it when/if it airs.

After clicking on your link, I remember surfing that site. While the series costs almost 600 pounds, the individual episode, make me stay awake… costs nearly 200 pounds. That is what I am remembering

Thanks.
