How to get rid of a creosol smell

I got this new firewood carrier cart which makes it much easier to get wood from the shed to right next to the fireplace and visually pleasing enough to stay inside. But it was packed with a cover which was obviously treated with some heavy petroleum products. I have tryed washing it down with vinegar and also with windex, and have also left it in a ozone soaked room overnight. It still stinks. What can I do to get rid of that smell, short of getting rid of the cart, which is a great convenience.

Well, I don’t know about these things, but the Wiki entry indicates that creosol is miscible in ethanol, ether or benzene. Maybe that’ll give you some ideas (just keep flammable materials away from the fireplace, eh?)
