How should I pronounce “Baptiste” in the French name “Jean-Baptiste”?

I am American and have never studied French. I would prefer having a safe but reasonable American rendition, instead of over-reaching and making a mess of it, if those are the choices. That is, I mean well but don’t want to come off as posing.
