Not sure if this blongs in FQ or IMHO, but here goes…
A few months ago I bought a gaming-level computer. My office area is infested with stinkbugs, and no amount of sealing around windows and doorwall seems to keep them out. They’re mostly just a nuisance, but clearly they can get through very small spaces.
The grill at the back of the computer has large open honeycomb shapes and some vertical open slot areas on the sides (if you click the link here and hover to zoom over the default image, you can see exactly what it looks like). There’s plenty of room for those f@#%&*# stinkbugs to crawl in, looking for warmth or just generally exploring.
I don’t think any have gotten in yet, but I feel like it’s just a matter of time. Could I do anything to keep them out, like maybe cutting an ordinary piece of window screen to size and fastening it over the honeycomb / slot grill? Or would that restrict airflow?
Yeah, I had suggested in the OP cutting an ordinary piece of window screen to size and using that, but I was concerned event that might restrict airflow too much. I guess I can closely monitor my CPU temps after.
Hm. Might want to use only released software instead of unstable alpha stuff.
\dumb joke
I think a coarse mesh, coarse enough to not restrict airflow but smaller than a stinkbug, should work. My PC has a built-in mesh with a honeycomb grid of holes about 4 mm in diameter. Seems about ideal.
Looking at your linked image, mine is similar but I think the holes might be larger in the image, maybe 6 mm? I would be concerned those are a bit too large to keep out stinkbugs.
