How to question with PowerPoint

I need to teach some teachers how to create an escape room for our students. I have everything ready for that, including a fun PowerPoint presentation. The one thing that would make it more fun is if I can add a sound–specifially a scream–to the animated picture at the beginning of the presentation. How do I have the scream play at the same time as the picture appears?

As always, thanks in advance!

Aha! Another teacher just came into the room and showed me how.

  • Click on the animated item
  • Click on custom animation
  • In the animation pane, click on the downward facing triangle on the right for your animated item
  • Click on Effect Options
  • Click on Sound
  • Scroll down to click on other
  • Navigate to the folder on your computer where you have the file and click on the file (it must be a wav file)

Now that’s out of the way, the next question is: How to have two items come in at the exact same time but from different directions?

When you have the animation ribbon active, across at the right hand side, there is a section labelled ‘timing’ - select an item on the page and you can define when the animation for it should start (options are ‘on click’, ‘with previous’ and ‘after previous’) - if you want the two things to happen at the same time, it’s ‘with previous’ - if you want them to happen one after the other, but without any interaction, it’s ‘after previous’.

Edit: These choices can also be made in the animation pane (and it’s easier to see what’s happening in what order there)

Forgot to come back and thank you.

Thanks!
