I’m wild about my Ecco walking shoes, but after eight years of constant wear they’re a bit faded rather than the dark black they were when new. Is there any material that will restore or renew them? A year-and-a-half ago I stopped into an Ecco shop in the UK and they sold me a £14 bottle of “Smooth Leather Daily Care Cream.” I guess I must have been convinced at the time, but now I’m dubious about the wisdom of using that on nubuck. Suggestions?
Nikwax makes very good products. This will rejuvenate and darken the leather without over-conditioning it. http://www.rei.com/product/806939/nikwax-nubuck-and-suede-spray-care-kit-42-fl-oz
I’ve always heard you should never use a cream for smooth leather on nubuck or suede. And considering that Ecco also sells a “Nubuck and Suede Conditioner”, I can’t think why they would have recommended a smooth leather cream for your shoes.
I’ve heard the same about using a cream, but am no expert - Allen Edmonds makes a brush/eraser(I think) type combo…
