How to request a copy of my credit rating in Canada

Hi Dopers,

How do I go about requesting a copy of my credit rating, in Canada? Preferrably by mail or over the internet, as I live overseas now.
Background is that the bank administrating my student loan insists in debiting my account for the monthly payments on the 2nd of the month (usually no problem), but when there’s a holiday or something, it’s delayed by a day or more, and they end up sending me an automatically generated “payment overdue” notice, even though they’re the ones in control of getting the payment from my account.

I’d like to find out if these “missed payments” are affecting my credit rating. Is the easiest/proper/only way to do this, by getting a copy of my credit rating, or is there another way? The people at the bank aren’t usually very helpful when I call…
Thanks!

Contact Equifax.

You can download a PDF request form, fill it out and mail it to them: http://www.equifax.com/EFX_Canada/consumer_information_centre/ownreport_e.html

You will need to provide a photocopy of two pieces of ID, if I remember correctly. It takes a while to arrive, but it comes back to you via mail, and there should be NO charge for you to request your own credit report.

Contact Transunion as well just in case.

Cool, thanks!
