I am asking a very simple question: if you were so interested, could you obtain the financial records for Bill Clinton’s foundation? I mean, he must have some kind of organization, to handle his trips and public appearences. He has to employ a considerable staff, to handle the details. Assumimg he runs a “non-profit” organization, is there any way that a private citizen could find out things…like how much he pays himself, what he charges for trips, etc.?
I am interested in his trip to Haiti last year-I assume that he charges for his visits, and bills expenses to something.
Anybody know how this could be found out?

I assume this was meant to be its own thread, so I’ve pulled it out of the thread on gravity.

Crazy idea, but what about looking at the website?
As to the broader question, non-profit organizations are required to make annual financial disclosures via IRS form 990. These are a matter of public record, and the organization is required to make the last three years of 990s available on request. Most, like the Clinton organization, just put them on their website. You can also use GuideStar.org.
