How to store celery

I don’t use celery very much, but it is cheaper in bunches and so I would prefer to get those and store them if possible. However, a large bunch generally takes up too much space in my fridge. What is the best way to store a bunch and how long will they keep?

Thanks,
Rob

I take it out of the plastic bag (if it is in one) rinse it off, shake it dry (pat it with paper towels if need be) then wrap it in aluminum foil before putting it the vegetable crisper drawer. I am not sure where I learned it, but I was taught at some point that it will keep longer this way.

I seem to remember something from the recesses of my mind about storing it upright in a glass of water…but that might be how to re-crisp limp celery or something…or might be the storage of a different vegetable altogether.

Get a bigger fridge?

Are you talking about celery ribs or leaves?

Some things I haven’t tried:

Leaves: put them in a glass of water outside the fridge. Should work for a day or two.

As for the ribs, you can probably chop most of it up and freeze it. Haven’t tried it, though.
