How to turn off dumbass PowerPoint tricks?

I got a PowerPoint slide of a graph with some labels and diagrams from a friend to use in a presentation. However, when I come to this slide in the presentation, the damn labels don’t appear at first, and when they do they go flying around.

I’m pretty surprised that the software even has the ability to do something so foolish.

How do I turn this off?

I found something called Design (the entire application does design, so I don’t know what this part is really for). But it has something called No Animation in it. However, when I select the slide in question and click this item, nothing happens.

Go under ‘Slide Show’ to ‘Set Up Show’ and check the box for “Show without Animation.” That will turn off all animation in that particular presentation.

I use PP 2003, your version may vary.

After going to Design (which you’ve done), there is a pulldown box at the top of the menu sidebar. Select “custom animation”. This will highlight any silly animations on your slide, which can then be deleted.
