Well? Is this pretty close to what being a mid level (and rising) member of the Mafia is really like, or not?
Offhand, I would say it’s pretty accurate.
The mob life is portrayed as without much glamour or romance, with long gruelling hours and constant stress from the threat of both the government and being whacked. Most of the gangsters are either dimwits or nuts, or usually both.
The oath of loyalty in the scene in which Christopher gets made is taken right out UNDERBOSS, Peter Maas’s account of Sammy the Bull.
The depiction of mob activities such as stock fraud, defrauding HMOS, labor racketeering, infiltration of construction projects, carjacking, bust-outs of businesses over gambling debts and the garbage business seem very true to life, according to what I’ve read.
The most inaccurate scene in the whole series was one of the very first, in the premier episode when Tony and Chrisopher run down a hospital executive with Christopher’s Lexus right outside of the hospital. That seemed far too public.
But overall, I think it’s very true to life.
