This is a terrific recipe. I make it here in Australia where it is Summer. It would be even better in Winter. Sometimes I drizzle a bit of coconut cream over it to serve.
I think you will taste the clove, and it will be good. It will add a little depth to the flavor. It won’t be overwhelming, because it’s not much clove.

My mother used to insist on using the word bott boi and not pot pie when referring to the name of this soup lol.
Usually around here, leftover ham bones end up in a handful of dishes.
One common one is to get boiled for stock, which is then used along with some of the ham meat for soup- ham, pieces of red potatoes, onions, and carrots.
Another is to just toss it in with a pot of greens instead of the ham hocks or whatever.
Same thing for a pot of beans- ours are usually pintos/mayacobas or sometimes even in green beans.
