How/where can I take a Photoshop class? And check out this site!

This site given to me by a student, has some amazing pics done with Adobe photoshop. My question (having not asked our IT guy yet) is where can I take an adobe photoshop class to learn how to use the program better than just fixing red eye from my camera? For those who learned photoshop inside and out is it a full semester type class or is it a few weeks at a training intitute. Thanks for the help…

here’s a giant list of tutorial sites if you are really motivated.

enter photoshop into kazaa and search for documents for complete tutorials, or stop by the local bookstore.

When I read the title, I knew the site was going to be worth1000. Those folks are amazing…

Adobe offers a wide range of training options which you can find here.

Unless you have an incredible talent for this sort of thing, I can’t imagine anyone learning Photoshop “inside and out” in a few weeks no matter what. For example, just becuase you know what a tool is and how it works doesn’t necessarily mean you know all the ways it can be used to achieve the results you want. Which leads us to the next point… I always recommend tutorials because without a goal in mind, it is easy to end up just flailing around and learning little, if anything. There may be a tutorial for how to make rusty pipes and you may not think you will ever need to know how to make rusty pipes, but working the tutorial will teach you the techniques involved and those techniques are really what you want to learn. Once you know how to add rust to a pipe you could use the same basic techniques to add moss to a rock (for example).

In my experience there are two areas that newbies tend to ignore but are really necessary to know how to use if you want to use the program to its full potential and those are layers and filters.

Good luck and have fun!

b3ta is a fun message board where you can post your Photoshop efforts and have them commented on by weird English people. They’re always pretty positive and encouraging, and being able to post stuff there is a great motivation for learning how to Photoshop.
