Given that the Democrats would have just kept trying to personally bankrupt the woman by filing false charges against her, it wasn’t like she was left with a lot of choice, was there?
16 ethics charges brought against her, all of them ultimately dismissed.
And what “rules” did she break? The rules allow her to resign if her heart isn’t in it or she feels she’s accomplished all she can. She did what thousands of Americans do every day. Quit the current job to get one that paid better.
Again, don’t think she’s actually running for anything, but she makes you people nuts, and maybe that’s all the satisfaction she needs.
You know, I see this argument a lot coming from right-wingers, but it’s simply not true. We’re not being driven “nuts” by her, we’re not getting all “wee-wee’d up”, we’re not “terrified” of her. We just think she’d be a horrible President (or politician of any office, actually), and can’t imagine what the Right sees in her.
Personally, I’d love to see her run for President. It would pretty much ensure a Democratic victory, and the debate would be legendary.
She just marks the Tea Party, and those who have nice things to say about them (like RR, despite his categorical disclaimers), as hopelessly out of touch with reality. It would be a scary few months, just because of the mathematical possibility that anyone can win any election given enough luck, but Dems want nothing more than Palin for an opponent, and you don’t need a Ph.D. in psychology to know that she’s very fragile in her mind. Her acts (like quitting without a better reason than it increases her income, which of course she hasn’t said, but instead spouted a lot of “principled” reasons that convince no one, including you and her best supporters, other than the terminally stupid ones, which is a bunch, I concede) speak for themselves.
Ha, when you said RR I thought you meant Rand Rover, and I didn’t remember him being in the thread. But then of course you mean Recovering Republican. Which is a huge mistake. Totally different there.
Like I said, no President has gotten re-elected since WWII with unemployment this high, so nothing is “ensured”.
And threads on her that run 300 posts… um, yeah, you guys are nuts when her name is mentioned. Not even Bachmann creates this kind of anger. I mean, the way you carry on, you’d think Romney wasn’t the frontrunner.
Frankly, the only ones I see as being out of touch with reality is “He Who Shall Not Be Named” supporters. They pretend things aren’t bad out there (they are) or the thrubbing they took in 2010 doesn’t count (it does) or that the Tea Party doesn’t have things they are validly upset about.
I don’t think Palin is the strongest person the GOP could put up.
As for this “Fragile in the Mind” stuff? Really? You are going with that? I think she shows some character flaws, but probably less than half the people in my office. Frankly, given the way she’s been attacked daily for three years, maybe she should be a little upset.
You know, where someone on this board called her “effin’ retarded and crazy”, like that’s civil discourse.
Right, she’s crazy because everyone has attacked her for 3 years. It’s not that everyone started attacking her because she’s crazy. She totally didn’t come off like a complete dunce in the very first interviews we saw with her. She doesn’t publically praise the Obama = Muslim movement. No, she was a perfectly rational, sane candidate that everyone attacked for no reason (maybe it was her disabled kid - people really hate people that are raising disabled kids!).
As long as she riles up the libruls she must be doing something right! Because everyone who liberals would completely reject as president is correct and good and proper. The more they hate her, the more she must be leadership material!
You’re pretty boring, you know. I figured with the “recovering” republican nonsense you’d at least have some unique twist, but you’re pretty much a total run of the mill apologist.
They run so long because of apologists arguing heatedly for her. No heated arguments, no 300+ post threads. “Chivalrous love,” not dead. Oh, no: people like RR prove it.
But also, there’s a lot to mock. I can think of no other wanna-be politician in my lifetime who was as so very ill-prepared to engage in national-level politics as her. She’s constantly making a fool of herself and yet has a frenzy of devotees. She brings a new dimension to the words, “execrably bad.” She’s the quintessential empty suit. She’s the Paris Hilton of politicians.
I do tire of her myself and wish people would just ignore her. But ignoring her publicly and in the media, and ignoring threads like this: not the same. So threads like this will persist.
Someone is nuts when Palin is mentioned as a presidential candidate. that would be people who really do not understand she is not qualified. The people who do not understand what a horrible transgression quitting is. the people who don’t see that failing miserably in a minor league interview is revealing. people who do not know her gaffes actually reveal who she is and it is not pretty.
Except for Ronald Reagan. Who’s the only other President since WWII to ever have unemployment figures this high. So I guess every President since WWII with unemployment this high has been re-elected. Maybe Obama should ensure his re-election by kicking the unemployment rate up a few notches so it’s as high as Reagan’s.
YOu mean actually challenging your assumptions? Really?
Frankly, guy, here’s the thing. Over at Town Hall, they think I’m a socialist because I don’t think Obama was born in Kenya and is a secret soclialst who wants to destroy American on behalf of his evil overlord, George Soros.
Here, if I point out, Obama hasn’t fixed any of the problems he promised to fix, I’m an evil tea partier who is being paid by the Koch brothers to spread dissent.
Honestly, all these billionaires paying me to post, and I haven’t seen a dime of it.
I think what this shows is that we have a political process that has become dominated by the extremes… Usually the remedy to that is a third party that brings back a bit of common sense.
Actually, Reagan’s saving grace is that his unemployment rate dropped from a height of about 11% to 7% in a little less than two years.
There’s nothing to indicate that’s going to happen here. Quite the reverse, even as the private sector is starting some tepid rehiring, the public sector is downsizing due to reduced revenues.
So are you trying to convince me you aren’t obsessed by, oh, I don’t know, acting obsessed?
Sorry, I’ve quit jobs in the past, haven’t you? I’m failing to see how quitting is this horrible “transgression” that you seem to think it is.
One more time for you guys.
I don’t think she’s the best person the GOP could put up, and I don’t think she’s actually running. If she does get in the race, I’m going to work very hard for whoever is opposing her for the nomination. (Because I’ve kind of concluded we are probably going to get a GOP president in 2012, so let’s make sure it’s someone I could live with.) I might even vote for Obama if she’s the GOP nominee.
But this hatred of the woman you guys seem to express does puzzle me. You’d think that you’d be anxious for her to get in.
These jobs you quit … were you elected by an entire state to do them? And did you quit because people were being mean to you? If so, you’re as big a yutz as Palin.
Everyone knows that Presidents have very little effect on the economy. Unless it’s a Democratic president and things are going badly. Or if it’s a Republican president and things go well.
