How will the Republicans demonize Kamala Harris?

Obviously a part of the campaign’s job is to anticipate these smears and have comebacks at the ready.

Are there also any ways for the campaign to immunize from them ahead of time? Bringing them as mocking fodder pre emptively?

The comebacks should be to play trump’s own statements about grabbing women, about how he can get away with anything, enumerate his convictions. But don’t give a whole lot of time to this. We’ve heard trump’s history. He doesn’t deserve any more air time.

There are a thousand nasty little ways Trumpites will (and have already started to) demonize Harris, including a photoshopped image purporting to show her with her arm around Jeffrey Epstein and maybe a dastardly plot by the producers of The Simpsons to put her in power.

The main ones will be Border Failure and DEI something-or-other.

Thanks to this particular thread, I dropped quite a few clams at ActBlue.com today. I’ll let someone smarter than me do the rebutting.

That’s an old one. They used it against Obama.

Why are you surprised? The Republicans are putting forth Donald Trump as their candidate and yet they’ve made an issue out of mental incapacitation.

So far seeing:

*She’s a DEI hire
*She slept her way to the top
*She’s not really black
*She has never had children so something something something
*She hates Black men since she is married to a white (Jewish) man
*She was put in charge of the border crisis and did nothing but make it worse
*She allowed murderers and other scary people (Black or Hispanic) to get away with murder as CA AG and SF District Atty.

I’m sure they will come up with plenty of others that are total bullshit.

I don’t think any of these will get the traction the Trumpets want.

Woo hoo! I made a difference! As a Canadian, I can’t donate, so I’ll claim this a donation by proxy.

If you run with that, the only response you will get is “So you admit she is nothing more than a sexual opportunist!”.

I think planned for some can even be used to advantage.

Several play into the full on embrace of Trump brand as misogynistic. The more the conversation centers on that the better. Bait those attacks as best you can.

Own her aggressive record on crime (which she had to soft pedal on in the 2016 primary). Point out that murder rates increased under Trump and have been decreasing under Biden.

And use border issues to remind of the dysfunctional GOP House nixing a bipartisan solution for cynical purposes.

Yep. This is why I say they can’t compete on policies, that’s a loser for them. So it will be all about personality, and I don’t think they have enough time to win on that front, either.

If you are responding to the sleeping to the top allegations they have literally been banging that drum for years. Since at least when she was a candidate in 2016. Whenever she is brought up on the internet I see it mentioned. The misogyny might not be quite that overt from the campaign yet but the bots are out in full force with memes about knee pads.

Going after her on the border or the economy is not vilifying. It’s just what has to happen if you are part of the incumbent administration. If she doesn’t have the talking points ready defending her record then she doesn’t deserve to be there. Trump made the immigration question easy. He put his own interests above the country.

Agreed she and the Democrats will be able to swat all of these stupid things down very easily.

But has that drum beat caught on outside their bubble? I personally hadn’t heard anything about this, but I knew all about “Vince Foster” “Benghazai” and “But her emails!”

Playing to their base won’t be enough. They need something that breaks out of that bubble.

I’m not in their base but I wander far and wide. Just because you haven’t seen it doesn’t mean it’s not wide spread and for years.

But widespread among which demographics? That’s the key question. If it doesn’t play among the swing voters, it doesn’t matter.

No, Viral Photo Does Not Show US Vice President Kamala Harris With Her Parents
As social media attention turned to Kamala Harris, multiple users shared a photograph of the Democrat leader with two individuals claiming them to be her “non-black” parents. Newschecker, however, found the claim to be untrue.

Multiple X users shared the photograph with the caption, “You ‘ain’t’ black if your parents ‘ain’t’ black.” The same image is going viral on Facebook with the text overlay, “Hello, everyone. I’m Kamala Harris and these are my parents. But why do I pretend to be black Merican?”

Anyone young enough to be on social media.

Which now means “It’s Okay When Republicans Deny It”.

Don’t mind me. I’m still trying to process the assertion Ms. Harris is not Black because her father is Jamaican. WTELF? Do these twerps know anything whatsoever about Jamaica? (The link goes to Wiki.)

A couple of years before my mom died, I had this conversation with her.

Mom: That Black bastard Obama!
Monty: Why are you calling him Black?
Mom: His father was Black.
Monty: What about his mother?
Mom: She was white.
Monty: Well, why aren’t you calling him a white bastard?
Mom: {Stares because she can’t process that logical query.}

Look. Every one of the accusations against Ms. Harris is incredibly easy to debunk. The issue here isn’t debunking those accusations and informing the accusers of the facts. Those accusers are not interested in facts. They are exactly like their idol in that. Facts don’t matter. What matters is the demographics, the distribution really of Democratic voters. Let’s hope that distribution is cromulent enough to overcome the red menace.
