No, they don’t know anything about Jamaica. They’ve been too busy being racist dipshits to actually look anything up.
It is to laugh.

They know John Candy was Jamaican.
ETA: Oh that movie.
Thanks to @Horatius.
Hah! Next you’ll tell me they have a bobsled team!
As opposed to Trump who told Republicans to vote against Biden’s bipartisan border bill so he wouldn’t get credit for doing something.
You have to understand that this “they aren’t really black” nonsense isn’t directed at potential white voters; it’s directed at potential black voters. Republicans want to get the idea out these candidates aren’t really like a typical black American - so a typical black American shouldn’t bother voting for them out of some misplaced sense of solidarity.
Well, duh.
I’m pretty sure @Monty got that.
It’s Schrodinger’s Racism: Black enough for white people to be racist, not Black enough for Black people to be proud of.
My MAGA mother has on occasion posted some vile things about Harris over the last few years including that she slept her way to the top. That Harris slept her way to the top, not my mother. MAGA Mom even used vile language she would have washed my mouth out for using when I was kid.
On Friday, Nov. 1, American Prosecuting Attorneys for Justice (an organization never heard of before that date) will reveal that in cases she has prosecuted, white defendants on average received sentences FIVE TIMES longer than black defendants. Any courthouse with records that could debunk this will already be closed for the weekend.
On Saturday, Nov. 2, e-mails and social media posts will reveal the never-before-known truth that Kamala Devi is an acronym for “Kill All Whites And Love All Deviants.”
On Sunday, Nov. 3, GOP stalwarts will explain the sad and frightening truth that Harris really means “Harry’s” and that Harry comes from the name Henry, which means ruler. So her last name is a statement hidden in plain sight (They do that, you know !) that she belongs, body and soul, to some foreign ruler.
On Monday, Nov. 4, Q will tell all the faithful that she wears her hair long to cover the radio receiver implant in the back of her neck, by which the lizard people control her. Seriously, have you ever seen the back of her neck even once?
All these “facts” will spread, at the speed of stupid, across the web. There will be no time for any reasoned response (not that it would make any difference).
I don’t know about the GOP version but in her flamed primaries run there was some pushback to her selling herself on Black heritage with some eye rolling - her “that girl was me” bit about benefiting from busing when she the daughter of a breast cancer scientist and a Stanford professor, a pretty privileged person. And attacking Biden on the busing issue.
She won’t make the same mistake this time, trying to use the African American experience as her personal rags to riches story. She has by choice embraced her identity as a member of the group and is embraced as a member. The racist attacks against her will drive the Black unity vote to her. Let them come. She is best off pointing the racist vision of America those comments are part of with no need to define herself specifically as what exact sort of woman of color. Being attacked as Black makes her “Black enough” and historically barrier breaking.
I think women voters will be a larger factor than black voters. Women are a larger demographic.
Women know they’re one of the target groups. There’s Project 2025 targeting women’s rights issues with the Dobbs decision showing that the Republicans are serious about this. There’s talk among some right wing men about how repealing the 19th Amendment is a goal. And the Republicans naming a convicted sex criminal who’s joked about the rapes he’s committed as the party’s candidate isn’t going to reassure any women who are worried about their future.
So Biden would have probably gotten a lot of women votes. And Harris will get more.
Since this has come up a few times in the thread, I’m going to share a tweet here containing some representative examples of the things going around in the right-wing loon-o-sphere. It’s truly disgusting, so I’ll hide it.
I think it’s actually worth seeing, though (for those with the stomachs to handle it), because it’s so revolting that I wonder whether it might backfire. I mean, the aggressive misogyny against Hillary Clinton was effective at least in part because the conservative noise machine had been working on her for years and years, and millions of people were predisposed to dislike her specifically. Whereas this new line of messaging against Harris, for people not inside the hate bubble, is coming essentially out of the blue, and feels purely misogynistic, rather than being encompassed within a larger attack plan. The cultist morons will cheer as they always do, but the mainstream female voter, perhaps, could be repulsed.
This is not to say that it’s pleasant to witness. But I have to hope it blows back in their faces and has the opposite effect as intended.
I’d totally wear that. Is it OK that I have 3 adult biological children? ( Ihave step kids, but I know they don’t “count”)
I’m not an American (I’m Canadian), nor am I a woman, but I’ve known enough American women who can vote in the upcoming election, and I still keep in touch. All of my American female friends and acquaintances would be disgusted by that. And many of the American men whom I know too. Yes, the cultists will like it, but that’s the kind of thing that crosses the line, and might make moderate American women look at the Republicans as crazy. In other words, backfire, as you said.
By the way, folks, @Cervaise wasn’t kidding with his warning. It’s that bad.
Just noting that the not black enough argument will get less traction since she went to Howard. Attending one of the HBCUs counters the argument that she is just “pretending “ to be black for votes ( not saying whether this is good or bad, just that it exists).
Added to the top of the tweet:
Visibility limited: this Post may violate X’s rules against Abuse. Learn more
I didn’t see that on anything else I’ve read. The word “may” suggests it is due to reports. But, still, it’s bad enough that Twitter users are appalled.
It should be noted that this is a left-wing user who has collected these screen shots under a caption rhetorically asking why Republicans have such a vote deficit with women. The tweet itself does not express or endorse the hateful viewpoint, it mocks and attacks it.
So if this has attracted user reports sufficient to get a “view limited” flag, it’s almost certainly because right-wing assholes are trying to get it taken down. And given that this is Musk’s platform, where the RWA’s are running rampant with the support of the RWA-in-chief, this has additional credence.
Carry on.
Ted Cruz, for one, has been suggesting that Republicans take Kamala seriously. That’s interesting. Hopefully the well-known dislike for him will mean no one’s listening.
