How would I look something like this up?

So a few weeks ago I’m listening to a local news show on the radio and I heard that according to the 2010 census I, a white guy, am now a minority in the city of Milwaukee. Living here I have no problem believing it, but I realized I haven’t a clue on how to look this up to verify it.

So I’m wondering for future reference how to search out such specific info from a seemingly overpowering database of facts. Any help? As always, thanks in advance.

I’d start with Wikipedia, which according to something other then the census, it says that we are in fact part of the 46.8% of the white population of Milwaukee…but let’s see if we can find the census data.

You could search on ‘2010 census milwaukee’ which will list a site with ‘2010 Census data for Wisconsin’, which has a link labeled ‘Milwaukee’, which has a pie chart with the breakdown of the races people claimed to belong to.

BTW: You are one person, which has always made you a minority by any classification, imagined or otherwise.

You could try the US Census Bureau’s page on Milwaukee.

Thanks guys.

Note that neither of the websites mentioned give the 2010 Census figures. One is the 2000 numbers and one comes from 2006 to 2008 numbers from the American Community Survey. I can’t find anything from the 2010 Census except for websites that say you can download a huge file.

At the top, just above the city names, it says “<< < 1-18 of 773 > >>.”
Click on the single right-arrow until you get to “451-468 of 773.”
