How would you illustrate the word "Indifferent?"

Indifferent - marked by impartiality : unbiased/that does not matter one way or the other/of no importance or value one way or the other

AKA not caring

My friend has a project he’s doing that requires he ‘illustrate’ a word. He chose the word ambiguous, but was almost stuck with indifferent… How would you draw a picture that illustrated such a plain, boring word? I told him if he got indifferent, he should’ve simply writtin the word on his board and turned it in (showing lack of care,) but we both decided the teacher probably wouldnt appreicate that.

A group of people around a TV set intently watching a sporting event (wearing fan gear?), and someone sitting to one side doing something else – reading, knitting, etc.

I wouldn’t try very hard.

::shrugs::

People in suits walking by someone huddled in rags.

Anyone who doesn’t post to this thread and has knowledge of it.

I wear a suit and have the same feeling for anyone else wearing one, or for anyone else on walking down the street, too. It isn’t based upon what they’re wearing, or their status in life, that makes me indifferent.

I’d probably use a picture of a cat, displaying indifference. That’s not the ONLY emotion they display, but when they’re indifferent, it shows.

I wasn’t making a statement, but the difference between a business suit and rags is an easy shorthand, and plays on the obvious stereotype and bias.

Holding the scale of justice with one hand, and using the other hand to stifle a yawn.

Or a view from behind as they walk away.

A page just full of mindless doodles.

I saw a drama last night which featured the lead character going to a series of sessions with a psychiatrist, who made constant notes in his file. When the psychiatrist left the room briefly, the lead check his file and discovered it was just full of doodles.

:-/

I would say there is a difference between impartiality and indifference.

I was impartial about the selection of the new Democratic Speaker of the House back in '06. I cared about the selection, but I wasn’t pushing for Pelosi.

I was indifferent about the 2010 Superbowl (and in fact all Superbowls). I don’t know who played in it, don’t care, and am not sure exactly when it was.

Lynn, you read my mind.

A picture of my cats on a summer night when the toad parade comes up the sidewalk to catch the last of the sun’s heat.

Kitty signals with a distainful turn of her head, “Not only am I not in the least interested, but I do. not. even. see that toad.”

A ballot with a check mark next to “any of the above - it’s all the same to me”

meh

and  but Covered By Bees beat me to it.

Or, like this.

The Gallic Shrug
