How would you quit your job?

I’d Go off to Europe on Friday and call in on Monday morning.

“Sorry boss I can’t come in today.”

“Oh, are you sick?”

“No way! I feel great! I’m just in Paris and I just don’t think I’ll be able to make my way over there before the day’s up. Oh, by the way, I probably won’t be able to make it into work tomorrow either. Hmmm… You know what? Count me out for Wednesday too. Hope the multi-million dollar meeting goes well. Good luck!”

That’s a new one that I haven’t heard and I guess I learned something today.

I’m afraid that even though I hate my current job, I’m too much of a “company man” (or workaholic, take your pick) to simply vanish without a trace.

I’d go in and pack up the personal things in my office, load them in to my car, check with a couple of my key employees to make sure they were basically on track, turn in my keys and ID badge, then exit the premises, having left an e-mail address where I could reached for the next thirty days with any questions.

No two week’s notice, or anything like that. If the question can’t be answered via a daily e-mail, then it doesn’t need answering. If my people can’t figure out how to be self-sufficient quickly, then they’ll learn.

I guess I’d truthfully explain to the boss that I didn’t like the recent changes then turn in my notice but spend the next two weeks training someone to do my job. I like the people I work with, just not the new company policies. My coworkers deserve a smooth transition.
Then I’d leave. I wouldn’t tell anyone why though. No point in that; it could only change relationships for the worse. I’d probably give the appearance of doing some ‘freelance’ work for a living, and spend much of the lotto winnings or whatever anonymously on what I thought were good causes needing the help. I guess that would actually BE freelance work, wouldn’t it?
Not that I’ve given this some thought over the past few months or anything…

I would continue to go to work for a few days and spend all my time talking about how rich I am and how I don’t need this job. I would talk about all the expensive stuff I bought, and then shoot my co-workers down when they ask to borrow $20 or so. After about a week of this I would stop showing up. If my boss ever called to find out where I was, I would tell her that I just didn’t feel like going to work that day, or any other day, and I probably wouldn’t be in anytime soon.

See, I don’t like my job or my co-workers so I really don’t care what they think of me. Why should I? I’m rich! (or so I wish…:frowning: )

I’d buy the company and fire everyone I couldn’t stand

Vengeful bitch aren’t I?

Sound advice in any situation.

Since I own the company and quite like my job, I wouldn’t quit. Instead I’d use the money to make sure we could all work on the fun projects, and spend lots less time on the ugly jobs we do just to keep the doors open.
