Ah, but yours isn’t a line from the lyrics of an Esperanto-language rock band seen live in Helsinki, is it?
“L’enfer, c’est les autres” - Jean-Paul Sartre
Damn it feels good to be a gangsta.
Disclaimer: I am so not gangsta.
VIVO
all in capital letters.
What is, is.
It Just Doesn’t Matter
I’ve already got it on a button, I guess I could have it made into a t-shirt.
Courtesy of bonJovi:
“Live while you’re alive.”
Front: Shit happened.
Back: Now looking for good times.
I’d like to have a shirt with my favorite line from Kurt Vonnegut:
I was a victim of a series of accidents, as are we all.
Mine would say:
“They said I marched to a different drummer. The were wrong. It was bagpipes and I was dancing!”
I think it would be much cooler to use the RAH version of that: “Dum Vivimus, Vivimus!”
The literal translation I recall is “While we live, let us live!”
Sort Them All Out and Let God Kill Them
I thought it was “Beer Bad”.
Mouse_Maven That is so me too!
And me.
In a similar vein, one of my high school yearbook quotes was a reference to Vonnegut’s Bokononism: Live by the foma (harmless untruths) that make you brave and kind and healthy and happy. I still basically believe this.
As for a T-shirt, I’d like to have the following short checklist, which I once added (while nobody was around) to the end of a list of project milestones on a whiteboard in a random conference room in an office building I was visiting:
- Part hair behind
- Eat a peach
- Shoot mermaids
(which is a reference to my favorite poem, T.S. Eliot’s The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock.)
I only wear shirts with no words, no symbols and no images. Which actually works out well for this thread since it’s basically saying “I have nothing to say to you” and that is me.
My personal philosophy would be: Live each day as though it’s your last, because one day, you’ll be right.
I also like my friend Hyena’s, which he adapted from a variant of Occam’s Razor: When two things are equally unbelievable, I choose to believe in whichever one is more fun.
