How's Battlestar Galactica Series 3 shaping up?

No spoilers, please!

For those of us who will have to wait until it gets released on DVD, how’s BSG 3 shaping up? Interesting? Exciting? Thought-provoking? Good enough for a 4th series? If not, are they planning on a proper close?

Are you talking about a new series, or Season 3 of the reimagined series?

Quartz means the series we are watching right now. The Brits refer to seasons as series.

Not bad. It drags in some pats, and I really want the soap-opera to cease and be replaced with gigantor space battles and missiles and nukes and blackjack and hookers…but other than that, well worth the investment.

I don’t know. It seems everything after episode 5 has been sub-par, and the cliffhanger left me underwhelmed. Certainly, I think the season has been weaker than the first two, though that is not saying much.

As one of the show’s biggest fans and defenders, I’ll admit that this season has moved in fits and starts. Some episodes have been great; others have been patchy; a couple of have been pretty bad. Some weeks we get oodles of plot; sometimes nothing much at all seems to be happening. And they’ve been leaning way too hard on the central soap opera (somebody needs to kick Kara in the balls) while neglecting potentially more interesting stuff.

On the whole, still a great show. But compared to the wondrous first season, decidedly subpar.

Ah…separated by a common language

To the OP: If you’re a fan of the show, you’ll be able to find something to like in this batch of episodes. There’s some asskicking–not enough for my taste, but some–early on. Lots of naked Xenabot and naked 6. Some naked Starbuck, possibly some naked Boomer (don’t remember). More plot on the quest for Earth. Lots of stuff with the Cylons on the basestar. Way too much love triangle mushy crap. A few strong episodes, but some weak ones in the mix as well. Lots of fans (including me) crapped all over the last episode shown. There was another non-arc episode a few weeks ago that dealt with a fleet boxing tradition–I really liked that episode, but several others crapped on it. Sometimes it seems like they’re trying to be all things to all people…a mystery-romance, with 'splosions and robots and political intrique and religion and nudity…

Is it good enough to continue? Yes, I think so, if they don’t write themselves into a corner. Rumor is RDM plans to hit the reset button again to really shake things up, but it is unknown if there will be more episodes. There’s another rumor that if the show isn’t canceled, there will be a made-for-cable movie between seasons/series.

So far, it’s not as good as seasons one or two , but still definitely worth watching IMO. I plan to add the DVDs to my collection when they become available.

He’s not joking. Cervaise even had one of his questions answered by Mary McDonell, live on video for all the world to see. Damn that woman is hot…

Well, the beginning of season 3 is as good as this show gets, then it dips below a bit. Now, with the 12-13th episodes, it’s back to being awesome.

That’s my opinion anyway.

Damn you all to hell!

I’ve got to wait 6 months. :frowning: :frowning: :frowning:

But no news on S4?

I think it has been uneven, though there was 1 episode close to the beginning that left me floored.

Soooo, not bad, I’d say. Actually, there are a few episodes, even though some have been lacklustre, that made the entire season pass on I-Tunes worth it.

You don’t have to wait that long. Do you have access to I-Tunes? Download away, my friend.

Great… now that I have installed the iTunes product, which came with QuickTime and, I am sure, all sorts of Apple crapware, I find that there is no TV store in Canada…

It would have been nice to have seen that, you know on the main TV show page of the iTune store. Perhaps something simple, like, available only in U.S. or something.

Fuckers

I’m a die-hard fan of the show, thick and thru, but this season has me feeling lack luster. I will have to admit though, I was estatic when I saw Exodus part1 and 2. Jesus Louisus. That was GREAT. I felt it was one of the better of the whole series.

So like they’ve already said. There are some good, a great one or two, and a bunch of crap :D. But, if you really love it, you’ll grin and bear through all of it.

You know, while I appreciate the female nude - and No 6 and Boomer are beautiful and I’m looking forward to seeing them nude - I can’t help but feel that when a show like BSG introduces female nudity, it’s a sign of desperation.

But Boomer and Six have been appearing nude since Season 1 and the miniseries, respectively.

Aw, blow it out your tardis!

I don’t recall full frontal nudity. For example, in the miniseries, we see No 6’s bare back, but not her breasts or more.

And you won’t recall it after seeing season three, either ;). Sorry about the “spoiler”, but the nudity comments are misleading. The Sci-Fi channel isn’t HBO ( more’s the pity ) and the “nudity” is more apparent than real. Or real enough, but artfully obscured.

But any port in a storm, sez I :p.

And with this month’s Playboy, we can fill in the missing pieces of Six.
