That doesn’t happen, does it? Tuba said her ass was sticky.
i figure it’d be kinda hard to pull your pants off
You feel bad about it, Lynn? I wasn’t even there!
From what I’ve heard, though, it was JillGat doing the stripping, not TubaDiva.
I never said that Tuba was stripping, just that I missed the best part of the meeting. That’ll teach me to go to bed early. And it’ll teach YOU to miss a ModFest.
Even if she’s not in Chicago, she’s working for a Chicago outfit.
Good enough for the Mob…
This creates few questions:
- How did your Ass get sticky?
- Why would you want a general announcement about it?
Okay one serious one:
What is a resubscription period?
Jim
Because some of our members are Charter Members – they were the first to sign up, way back when we first offered subscriptions – one time a year, during a specially defined time period, they get to resubscribe under the Charter Member rate, half of the going subscription rate.
That window of opportunity is only open for a short time; if a Charter Member misses it, they forever forfeit the right to get the Charter Member rate.
If you paid the full $14.95 a year, you can resubscribe at any time, it’s up to you.
We announce when the Charter Member is offered and when that offer expires.
TubaDiva
I’d just like to say a massive “Thank You” to the very kind and generous person who so kindly paid for my first year’s membership.
I’ve already replied to that person by E-mail, but I’ll say it here again: Thank you very, very much, and if you’re after anything like chocolate or other similar, mailable goodies from Australia, E-mail me and I will be more than happy to oblige! (Where’s the warm fuzzy smilie when you need it?)
That’s gotta be soon, right? I just got my tax return and I’m primed!
Now I’m confused.
I thought I could resubscribe at any time while I was still a Charter Member. If I’m correct, that gives me a whole year to renew, and I wouldn’t call that “a short time”. I’m not trying to quibble, just to understand. If I’m wrong, please set me straight. I’m completely clear on the fact that if I let my Charter Membership lapse by even 1 day, I’ve lost it forever.
The present tense here seems to allow the interpretation that the Charter Member rate might be offered again, which was not my understanding. If not, the past tense would seem to be more appropriate here. Of course, the people who make such decisions can offer whatever rates the want. It was just my understanding that discounts are out of the question at least for the foreseeable future.
Again, I’m not trying to quibble or trying to find loopholes to take advantage of. I’m confused and want to end my confusion.
Here’s how it works:
The Charter Member rate is only offered in a limited window of opportunity around the time most subscriptions expire, which is April 28.
You can resubscribe at any time at the regular member rate, but the Charter Rate is only offered during this special promotional opportunity.
If you’re really concerned about missing the deadline I note you can also subscribe during that period for two years, giving you a year’s cushion at $7.95.
There will be much noise made when this promotional window is open; you’ll see an announcement posted in every forum and there will be a thread in ATMB.
TubaDiva
Huh. I re-subscribed last week (decided that there was little point in waiting until the last minute), and paid only the discounted rate. And seeing as how there is a decided lack of ‘Wooo! Resubscribe cheap!’ announcements a-happenin’… I don’t remember if I was given the chance to re-up for two years though.
<< Live now–procrastinate tomorrow! >>
Cool, so it’s back on, all right.
Jerry musta forgot to tell Ed, who forgot to tell me. . .
So go on ahead and subscribe already. For most of you your subscriptions expire April 28. It makes no difference when you pay up, you don’t lose any time subscribing earlier. You do reduce the load on the server and save yourself the aggravation of timeouts and such trying to get in with everydamnbody else on April 28.
TubaDiva
Yes, that is true, but for most of us charter members, that year will expire on April 28, which is fast approaching. What Tuba is warning us about is that if we wait until April 29th to renew, the Charter Membership is gone, along with the half-price offer.
So, it’s kinda like doing taxes.

I’m a permanent 14.95er aren’t I, Tuba.
(Sheesh, at least gimmie that calendar I was so excited about. ;))
I wish everyone had known about our Charter Member offer when it was a going thing.
Some of you missed the memo, I guess.
It was a one time consideration. For those who got in on the deal, it was a good one.
Others, due to inattention or whatever let Charter Membership slide; once gone, that was it.
TubaDiva
THIS is correct, and I apologize for my misread.
If you’re currently a Charter Member and you STAY currently subscribed, you will always be offered the Charter Member rate whenever you choose to resubscribe . . . provided you do not let your subscription lapse.
Once lost, it’s gone forever.
TubaDiva
I clearly stated I understood the consequences of lapsing. But she said more than that which is what I was confused about. As she explicitly said in reply to my post:
That’s what I thought she was saying, but that was different from my understanding prior to reading this thread. But she corrected herself in a later post which my original understanding matched with:
Rest assured I’ll renew well before April 28.
