Hows that for a slap in the face?

So I was informed today that my daughter and her new friend can’t play together anymore.

The reason: They found out we aren’t Mormon.

So how do I explain this to my 6 year old daugher? It’s 2004, people still think like that?

But…but…Mormons are nice!

I agree, her new friend was VERY nice. We loved her dearly.

My friend from Utah said the same thing happened to her when she was a kid. She wasn’t allowed to play with the Mormon children. She said it isn’t as common now, but I guess it’s still happening. Personally, I think it’s pretty cruel.

What did the little Mormon girl’s three other mothers say?

Thank you.

There is now a disgusting mixture of mucus and Vanilla Coke all over my monitor…

It’s simple, really. Just be 99% truthful. Tell the child “Suzi’s family won’t let you play with her any more because they’re Morons. And unfortunately, many Moron families won’t let their kids play with other kids who aren’t Morons.”

What a crock of bubblin’ shit that is! It’s too bad that some Mormons can not be tolerant of others beliefs.

Maybe you should put on a white shirt and tie, ride a bicycle, and knock on their door…

When my (half)brother was in high school, his best friend’s mom decided they couldn’t speak anymore because my mom had been divorced. Never mind that she had since remarried and had been married to my dad for 10+ years. This was in the early 80’s. I remember, even as an 8 year old, thinking this was the stupidest thing I had ever heard.

Incidentally, the best friend’s name was Fletcher. I mean, come on… his mother wasn’t giving him any breaks.

Best. SouthPark. Ever.

There’s a fine line between having beliefes, and having mental problems. That woman clearly had mental problems.

From someone with mental problems: Shut The Fuck Up.

That woman’s a bigot. End of story.

Tender_Betty, that really sucks. Disgusting to see such intolerance alive and well. Hope your kid isn’t too crushed by the unwelcome intrusion of real life in her age of innocence.

I feel sorry for the little girl being raised by such a woman. How narrow her life will be. Hope hope she grows up to be a practicing Wiccan just to piss her off!

Blessed Be,
Patty

I’m sure the little Mormon girl was very nice and will be sorely missed, but …

do you want your daughter associating with her family?

At least you won’t have to explain to her why her best friend has told her she is going to hell.

If her best freind told her was going to hell she would be going against our teachings. But then her parents already are.

It’s unfortunate that religious teachings never seem to make much of a dent in religious intolerance.

Though maybe we should give the kid’s family the benefit of the doubt; maybe she kept complaining that she wanted to drink cola like Tender-Betty-Kid could.

respectful queston

So LDS as a group don’t make a point of keeping themselves apart from non-LDS in general social intercourse? Other than the missionary work? (As do some other religious groups)

LDS prefer to marry LDS, though, right?

Okay, this just burns me up. What about their own child, I mean if they were going to enforce this idea of associating only with your own kind then why didn’t they check out your belief system BEFORE your kids got attached to each other? Further more, knowing a couple of Mormons, I’m pretty sure they are Christians. Is this what Jesus taught? That you don’t associate with anyone different from yourself? Umm, no.

Pah-leeze.

I’m so sorry for your daughter. This is a hard knock in her little life and I have no idea what you should tell her. If I were you I would want to visit them with my daughter and have them explain it to her. But I would never go through with it.
